2. Dempsey ends up on a top club not named Liverpool

Correct. Birmingham City and Portsmouth are two of the most successful English clubs over the last 5 years.

False eqivilancy much?

I said it myself that this is all for naught if Liverpool don't win the FA cup. I don't remember Birmingham or Portsmouth winning two tournaments while in the EPL. If they did, feel free to correct me. But winning two tournaments is kinda a big deal, significantly more so than just wining the Carling Cup.

Let's recap:
Liverpool don't win the FA cup = Meh, a trophy but not that big of a deal and a miserable.
Liverpool win the FA cup = Two trophys, more than any other EPL team this year. Pretty damn successful.

This trophy makes or breaks this season.

Doni, Flanagan, Coates, Skrtel, Johnson, Spearing, Shelvey, Henderson, Maxi, Bellamy, Carroll

So, he's resting the big guns, but giving Johnson a runout to make sure he's up to fitness. Maybe good enough for the draw, but doubtful. Glad to see Carra dropped, hopefully Coates can put in good enough of a show to get him some more playing time if Agger can't make it. Henderson finally gets a chance to take over for Stevie in center, let's see what he does with it. This game is going to be the Yakubu show: if he can abuse Coates-Skrtel, this will be over quickly.

You said:
Trophies = Success

Reality is that it is much more complicated than that. Trophies are a part of it, but boiling it down to that is ridiculous, as even you admit when that argument is applied to other clubs.

Hate to interject, but if United go on to win the league, they too would have won two trophies this year. Charity Shield and the League.

TheKnownUniverse: The more people hate Liverpool, the more I love them, even when they're doing horribly. Walk on, friends.

You know, truthfully I have nothing against Liverpool. Over the last couple of years they just happen to have made an easy target of themselves.

I know that one of these years Arsenal will be the club that fails to qualify for Europe, and I fully expect to get all of this back at us.

I covered that in a previous post. I discounted the Charity sheild because it's an exhibition game and not a tournament. For the Title, Carling, and FA cup, every team has an equal shot to a trophy. The Shield is between two teams who earned their spots the previsou year.

Other than that and you'd be correct (which then I claimed the UTD would have the edge and Liverpool would be the second most successful club).

Of course all of this is still riding on a long shot.

Hey we all had a good laugh at Arsenal earlier in the season. But you guys got the last laugh. :)

Maxi Maxi Rodriguez run down the wing for me!

It's really hard to watch this and write about credit default swaps at the same time.

Maxi clearly working off his frustration from being on the bench for so long.

WTF? Another coworker interrupts me and Liverpools keeper is red carded?

People need to stop interrupting me or we'll have a 7v9 match with the score being 13-pineapple.

2012-04-10 03:27:36 PM
Weak PK -- Liverpool to go on to win 5-nil now. That was a pathetic shot.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME YAK? THAT WAS UTTER shiat

2012-04-10 03:28:08 PM
Nicely done Doni. Finally get a chance to show your stuff, and you promptly get a straight red. Smooth.
So now we're on our third Goalkeeper. Awesome. Just when you think this team has one in the bag, they shoot themselves in the foot.

They called you exotic. Which is just "people talk" for awesome, which you are.

Got in just in time to see Doni's red card and utter fail of a penalty kick.

Thanks!

Just 1 question...was it a legit red?

Oooh, I forgot Renia was out as well.
Wow, that's gonna suck.

2012-04-10 03:31:41 PM
What the actual fark?

The midfield and back line are gonna have to stand like the Majinot Line come Saturday. Third keeper....ridiculous. I can't watch here, so was it a weak red, or well deserved?

2012-04-10 03:31:52 PM
ScouserDuck: Just 1 question...was it a legit red?

Hoilett lured him close, then kicked the ball 'round him and Doni took his body out. Red to me, but I'm bias.

2012-04-10 03:36:30 PM
From the BBC: "Oh dear. Jon Flanagan is woefully short with his backpass and Yakubu nips in. He rounds Alexander Doni, who brings him down. That's a penalty and a red card. Flanagan is replaced by substitute goalkeeper Brad Jones - it has not been a very good night for the Liverpool defender."

Ugh...yep. No choice there, it's a proper red. But then there's this:

"Wow! What a way for Brad Jones to mark the first touch of his first Premier League appearance for Liverpool. He springs to his right to keep out Yakubu's extremely tame penalty and protect his side's 2-0 lead."

Nice way to open his PL account for us.

2012-04-10 03:37:19 PM
That was a nice header - Liverpool blows!!!! Up the Reds!!!!

2012-04-10 03:37:30 PM

Nice goal Yak

I think Doni was trying for the ball and didn't intend the foul, but it was still a legit red.

2012-04-10 03:40:07 PM
I'm not even watching. I'm just so fed up with this team right now.

Nice to see Maxi get two right away.

2012-04-10 03:41:23 PM
Now Ivanovic is being suspended 3 matches (new window) for punching Wigan's Shaun Maloney.

2012-04-10 03:47:06 PM
From Will in Cambridge: "Re 2029. If Brad Jones gets sent off I'd play Carroll in goal on Saturday. He seems quite good at making sure the ball doesn't go in the net."

Bahahahaha

2012-04-10 04:01:45 PM
Our keepers are disproportionately good looking compared to the rest of the team

That's my halftime analysis

2012-04-10 04:02:37 PM
Now that we'er on our third, and now last available GK, we've got to figure out who's Brad Jones' backup for Saturday? Isn't Jerzy Dudek retired? Can we sign him as a free agent?
