Someone beat me to it! Hats off to you whomever you are. Blackburn are fighting to stave off relegation, while Liverpool are just fighting to get a win and not fall further behind Everton. Should be a scrappy game, but I think Pool pulls it out 2-1.

I'll wait until tomorrow for my other predictions! Let Day 5 of continuous days of Premier League action commence!

Please, Rovers, don't be the only relegation team to NOT take advantage of Liverpool's shiat form over the last few weeks.

There are a few things I care about, and have to see happen:

1. Bolton narrowly avoid relegation

2. Dempsey ends up on a top club not named Liverpool

3. Donovan realizes the MLS is shiat and moves back to Everton permanently

4. Manchester City sack Mancini, sell Mario to APOEL, and bury fat Tevez under one of the greens on the old course.

5. Liverpool finish out of the top 10

6. Spurs win the FA Cup

Worst record in 30 years or something, right?? I'm loving this season. Watching both Liverpool and Man City collapse, while watching United go on top with, what has undoubtedly been, a season filled with injuries, and sub-par performances, has been just a joy to watch.

I did say City will collapse in the spring...

Would love to see all of this happen. As long as if by "top club" for Dempsey you mean Newcastle, because if we lose Ba he would fit PERFECTLY into our new 4-3-3.

ohwaityoureserious.jpg

Winning one minor trophy and one major one would not make Liverpool the "most successful EPL club". Especially not if they finish near the middle of the league table -- and if they lose today, there is a decent chance that Liverpool could even finish in the bottom half.

If an EPL team were to win the Champions' League, that would make them "most successful" in my book. Absent that, the EPL champions are by definition the most successful. I'd also put anybody else that qualifies for the Champions' League above the FA Cup winners.

And even if you merely count number of trophies, Man Utd will likely finish the season with the Community Shield and the EPL championship (again) against Liverpool's possible FA Cup and Johnstone's Paint Trophy (or whatever that cheap piece of tin for reserve squads and lower league teams that they won on penalties is called this year).

So, yeah, you'd have to be pretty delusional to think that Liverpool has any pretension of being the "most successful" EPL club this year. Mind you, it would be hilarious to see the manager of the self-styled "most successful" EPL club get canned at the end of the year...

Not quite. Chesterfield beat Swindon two-nil to lift the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, which is at least as prestigious.

Chelsea is in sixth with these matches approaching;
21 Apr Arsenal (a)
29 Apr QPR (h)
2 May Newcastle (h)
6 May Liverpool (a)
13 May Blackburn (h)
If they lose to Barça, Chelsea might play better and get 10 points, enough for 4th place.

So you're giving the community shield more credance than the Carling Cup? It's an exhibition game, not a tournament.

Think of it this way. IFF Liverpool win the FA cup, not only will they have 2 trophys, they will have won 50% of entered competitions.

Since the community shield isn't a competition, I'm not counting it. But ManU's 20th will be the only trophy out of 5 possible comeptitions. ManU got eliminated from every possible tournament (once at the hands of Liverpool)

I'm sorry, but Trophy's count, and if Liverpool win the FA cup they will have more trophies than any other EPL team (unless you want to count the community shield, then they'll be tied with ManU. I'd give them the edge so at the very least, they'd be number 2)

You may think I'm delusional, but it seems that I'm much more rooted in reality than your non-factual subjective rant.

Liverpool...underdogs...

Maybe I'm just old, but I can't wrap my mind around this one :)

In any case, hopefully they can beat Rovers and keep the bottom as clustered as possible. Without a dog in the relegation fight, I cheer for chaos...even if last season will be hard to top.

You are old. 1990 was a long time ago. I was 4.

It's no secret that 'Pool have spent the last 20 years being a very on and off team. Some years (2001, 2005, 2006, even the 08-09 season to a degree) we've been on, but for the past 4 years, we've been on a bit of a downward trend. So the underdog title is apt in recent history.

expobill: liverpool being 36 points adrift of the leaders does not make them "this year's most successful EPL club."

You're right, but winning 2 trophies would. Bear in mind that this will all be moot if Liverpool don't come through this saturday.

The points you're refering to are relative to 1 of many competitions throughout the year. IFF Liverpool win the FA cup, they will have more trophies through competition than any other team this year despite their poor performance in the league.

Trophies = Success

2012-04-10 12:47:48 PM
Birmingham City were such a successful EPL team last year they decided it would be unfair to participate this time around.

According to the BBC, Balotelli was let off because one of the four officials saw the incident. If that is the case and this official didn't draw it to the attention of the referee is that not a disciplinary matter?

This and want Aston Villa to join the relegation fight. Just so Randy Lerner understands you NEVER EVER EVER try to get the manager of your biggest rival, esp. if said manager just got them relegated.

2. Dempsey ends up on a top club not named Liverpool

Wouldn't mind if Arsenal takes a chance of Clint.

3. Donovan realizes the MLS is shiat and moves back to Everton permanently

Everton's gonna have to make a pretty significant bid in order to pry him from the MLS.

4. Manchester City sack Mancini, sell Mario to APOEL, and bury fat Tevez under one of the greens on the old course.

...and then have the fans of every club in the PL do the Poznan. XD

5. Liverpool finish out of the top 10

B-but I thought they were challenging for a top 4 spot! XD

6. Spurs win the FA Cup

Suck Fpurs.

I still don't consider them "underdogs" (especially on a day where they are playing Rovers), but they have certainly had to fight against more than their share of bad ownership and poor signings for quite a while which put them on a whole different plane of competitiion from United, City & Chelsea. Personally, I reserve the underdog tag for the teams who seemingly have no business in the EPL, yet hang aroung anyway...such as Swansea this season or Rovers, WBA, Wigan or Wolves for a few seasons now. Liverpool, fortunately for its fans, is on a whole different level from such clubs.

Ditto-d (although 3) I don't think is gonna happen, MLS loves him too much. 5) I think they can recover and come back. I got nothing against Liverpool personally. 6) I'd love for it to happen, but their form has to turn around big time.)

I see your point, however Swans would argue that they clearly belong in the Prem after their performances this season. Maybe underdog wasn't the right title. It just seems to me that Liverpool, out of the supposed Big 6 clubs in England, has the most detractors: people either like Liverpool or HATE them, and not even a somewhat respectful hate. A "ruin their children's birthdays" hate.
