This is why it's important to keep marriage out of the dirty gheys hands?

They have a point. Anti-Gay laws are the only thing stopping the average "social conservative" man from lunging for the nearest penis.

wait - he wants to open up marriage to even more people. how is that anti-marriage?

Thirty years earlier, young Pat Moynihan had raised an alarm about the breakdown of marriage in his seminal Report on the Negro Family. The out-of-wedlock birthrate for black children in 1965 was then just 22%. Young Pat Moynihan saw this as dangerous. Today, the out-of-wedlock birthrate for the whole nation is 42%.

Hmm, then two years later, Loving v Virginia was passed. I think the author is onto something here. If I randomly extrapolate information, it's obvious then that repealing anti-miscegenation laws led to the upswing in out-of-wedlock birthrates and divorces.

Then Roe V Wade in 1973. The right to abortion definitely created more out-of-wedlock babies!

There's also derrrrrrrrrrrrrp.

1) Dude needs to learn the various ways in which vacancies are filled across the different states.

2) Gays have a positive effect on the economy. Let them marry and you unleash even more economic potential from that community.

3) Blackwell is a retrograde moron.

This was actually one of the superlatives he got in his high school yearbook back in Kenya.

"Most likely to be come the most anti-marriage, ineligible President in history, ever."

He keeps referring to the President as 'Professor,' which made me a little bit nauseated. But whatever. His writing style also irritates me for some reason, so I didn't read the whole article.

But basically he's saying that Obama has a double standard over his definition of constitutionality considering his health care bill and DOMA, right?

Translation: I'm a deeply closeted homosexual devout man, and I want the government to make sure that I can never be who I truly am those disgusting homos can never get married to me each other!

How does this guy propose that DOMA affects out of wedlock births in any way? Is there a different DOMA running around that I'm not aware of?

First sentence: We are often reminded that President Obama is the smartest man ever to occupy the White House.

Annnnnd close.

If we care about poverty, income mobility, health, education, and welfare, we need to support true marriage.

Leaving aside the tenuous connection (the word 'marriage' being the only connector) between DOMA and childbirth out of wedlock, it's a shame he couldn't be bothered to explain this sentence. Maybe we'll find out if we buy his book! It's like a prize in a box of cereal, except that prize is herpes.

Isn't it more 'anti-marriage' to ban people from getting married?

I support marriage. For straight people, for gay people, whoever. Isn't that a more pro-marriage opinion?

2012-04-10 12:00:54 PM
We have the constitution and the courts to strike down derpy laws. The DOMA *and* ACA both need to be struck down.

It doesn't matter how many assholes vote for it.

Gay marriage hurts straight marriage. It just does. If you can't see it, you're probably a libosexual yourself.

2012-04-10 12:03:09 PM
FlashHarry: wait - he wants to open up marriage to even more people. how is that anti-marriage?

Because if you redefine marriage then straight people won't get married any more, and those that are already married will either divorce or die in murder/suicide pacts. Only gays will get married, and because they can't have kids it will spell the end of the human race as we know it.

Just look at what has happened in Canada for heaven's sake.

I can't think of any difference at all between this and what gay marriage supporters want.

It's really odd to read the anti-equal marriage stuff being tossed out there from here in Canuckistan. I wonder what planet these people are living on, because it's clearly not the one I'm on.

I'm in a city with a right-wing lesbian newspaper columnist. I know more than one gay divorcee. Life here is peachy; certainly no worse, and arguably better than, many American locations that actively restrict equal marriage rights. To see people declare the end of families, society, and the economy as unavoidable outcomes of allowing people of the same gender to get married kind of comes into conflict with the world I live in every. single. day.

Who am I gonna believe, these fools or my lying eyes?

In all seriousness, can anyone provide one (1) rational, secular argument against same-sex marriage?

Just one.

Anyone?

Hello!

If we were to allow gay marriage rights in every state in the United States the very first thing un-president professor BO N0bama would do would be to force my wacky conservative aunt to divorce her husband and marry a lady.

I think that was what the article was trying to say.
