It's been gone for 3 months. It's dead already.

Maybe one of the neighbors ate it.

Maybe she should ask if anyone's been seen "wokking" her dog

"I think we've been more than lenient with her," Mayor Jeff Hall said. "She did not have a permit, and we did not go out and yank them right away."

Isn't the mayor Cory Booker?

"City officials said they have been flexible in allowing most of Gardner's 100 yellow-and-red signs to remain, although they said she never had a permit and the signs technically are illegal."

Um... what the hell is her problem?

Or it has been dognapped. People do steal purebreds to resell them. Also, Afghans are fairly highstrung, somebody may have poisoned it.

Her dog is missing, are you heartless? It is her right as a citizen and purebred owner to litter the city with flyers.

One hundred signs? Way overdoing it.

I wish our local officials would look out their window once in a while and notice when the sign spamming crackpots put up 100 signs.

No expert, but I would hazard a guess that the mayor is Jeff Hall....

"She never really had a permit," Morehead said. "We started getting complaints from people seeing them all over the place. Nobody has inundated the town like she has."

The city removed signs that were in the right of way, including one tied to a stop sign, because they can hinder the visibility of drivers.

The city's temporary sign ordinance states that all such signs are illegal. Promotional signs, however, are permitted for 30 days twice per year, with at least 90 days between displays on a property.

All sympathy lost.

Gardner said her efforts to locate Flower have not been a waste of time because she has helped reunite four other lost dogs, and a goat, with their owners.

WTF? This was in Newark, right?

So you're allowed to sell people shiat they don't need, but god forbid if you try to find your missing pet.

Step aside citizen, your masters have something to sell you.

100 signs? For once I'm siding with the city.

Relax lady, right now your dog is teaming up with a grizzled golden retriever and a hoity toity cat and they'll find their way home after having some amazing adventures.

23 posts and only 1 so far has mentioned the farking goat?

This lady somehow put up signs about a missing dog. In Newark. And credits this activity with reuniting a farmer with his or her goat.

Jody Gardener, of Newark, has placed about 100 signs across the city in hopes of finding her Afghan hound,

Must be one of those Al Qaeda sleeper cell dogs we keep hearing about. We should raise the terror alert level.

The part of the story I don't like is that the little boy gave up looking for Happy after an hour. He didn't put posters up or anything, he just sat on the porch like a goon and waited. That little boy's gotta think 'You got a pet. You got a responsibility.' If your dog gets lost you don't look for an hour then call it quits. You get your ass out there and you find that farking dog.

I read the same thing and thought that was strange also. Who just has a goat hanging around? But the I remembered a story my Dad told me about where he works in the Twin Cities, and how just recently he had issues with wild turkeys walking right up to the entrance to a corporate office he works at, banging their heads against their own reflection in the glass. Now that must be funny.

Goats make good pets and supply milk. They eat all kinds of stuff, so your kitchen scraps never go to waste.

This has nothing to do with New Jersey. The Advocate is the local daily newspaper of Newark, Ohio, serving the general Licking County region.

Licking County?!?! LOLhio!

She plastered the signs all over town including on a farking STOP sign. The woman is a menance. Put one at the post office and maybe on some church bulletin boards. I'm sorry for her loss, but a lost dog doesn't give her the right to use the entire city as her personal advertising space.

What a mess.

Except that the law does allow businesses to use the entire city as their personal advertising space.

I always thought the "Nerk" thing was funny. Personally, I'm a Heathen.
Also, I might be able to do something to help the owner. My mother is the executive director for the Licking County Humane Society, so we might be able to get her in contact with some of the local rescues and other resources.

I can see maybe 5 or 10 signs, but 100?

Around here the signs are for selling furniture for some reason. Want to buy a queen mattress for $400? Call this number. Um, hows about no.
