Since it is a weekly ranking of all the teams, does it not always feature the Red Sox and the Braves?

I like how the Pirates beat the Phillies twice and went down a spot.

2012-04-09 04:39:00 PM
The Tigers are good but with Fister on the DL they may need to score 8 runs every game Verlander isn't pitching.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but I'm pretty sure tonight is the only time in history that the 3-0 Orioles take on the 0-3 Yankees.

Pretty sure there's no reason to see where the Padres are. How about the Rangers.. eh, 4 isn't too bad

2012-04-09 07:11:23 PM
Really, the Astros have their best opening series in five years and they are still the bottom team?

Yeah, yeah, they are the Astros but they have a new owner and a GM that won't make the Astros a farm team to everyone else.

2012-04-09 07:12:28 PM
Power rankings after 3/162 games is silly.

The Braves are a playoff team. Book it. Done.

And I would love to see the headlines in the New York Post if, at the end of that series with the Orioles, the Orioles were 6-0, and the Yankees were 0-6 :).

Correct.

/Twins should be lower

Wait wait wait. Now I understand that the Astros aren't going to be the strongest team this season, but considering they are 2-1 so far, shouldn't they be out of the cellar at least for this ranking? Let these guys come out and see the light of day for at least a week before you plunge them directly back into last place.

I mean even the 1-3 Oakland A's managed to go up two spots. At least the O's Mariners and Mets all got a decent jump in the standings thanks to their starts, but the Astros just got a steaming pile dumped on their heads.

Hopefully we can get rid of Pink Hat Nation. Not to mention Red Sox tickets are the highest average price of any MLB team. This team needs to be purged of their overpriced underachievers. Theo Epstein made the best timing in exit strategy.

I dont know where the brewers are ranked but judging from the pitching tonight and this weekend its too damn high

Even as a Twins fan, I'm willing to say that the Twins really deserve no better than last place right now. This team sucks. Those teams behind them deserve to be ahead of the Twins right now.

Excitement is running high in the Queen City. Joey Votto has been locked up to a multiyear contract. Jay Bruce is launching balls over every fence he can find. Johnny Cueto looks like a bona fide ace. And all of this is happening in front of sellout crowds.

Watching the Cards/ Reds right now.
Looks to be less than 10,000 in attendance.
Those sellout crowds must have been road games.

2012-04-09 07:42:56 PM
LOL, they ranked the Yanks #1 last week? Based on what exactly?

2012-04-09 07:50:01 PM

Lord Jubjub: Yeah, yeah, they are the Astros but they have a new owner and a GM that won't make the Astros a farm team to everyone else.

They have their work cut out for them, considering how wiped out their farm system is.

I don't think Jack Zduriencik (GM for the Mariners) gets much praise from the national media, but in his 4 years here he's quietly retooled the franchise well. Some obvious chips like Dustin Ackley are already full-timers in the bigs, but the AA-affiliate Jackson Generals are f*cking loaded, which is why the Mariners didn't blink at the Montero for Pineda trade.

I really don't see why the Tribe is ranked as badly as they are. You'd think all the 0-3 teams would be behind the teams with at least one W, but eh. Nobody likes the Tribe.

If we're being pedantic... It would always contain the Braves and Red Sox. It wouldn't always feature then.

This is an outrage! How the Orioles are not ranked first after their showing this weekend is beyond me. This list sux. I would actually like to see the rest of the season cancelled and the World Series trophy presented to the boys from Eutaw Street.

/ok, I admit, the O's will be bottom dwellers for most of the season, but at least I can cut out the standings from this morning and know at one point the O's were in first place...

In the mid-60s and early 70s the Orioles were the shiat and the Yankees, well, not so much.

Mariners are welcoming Yu Darvish to the MLB.

I don't think anyone expected them score 4 runs in the first inning.

I'm not saying that the Cubs are going to set the world on fire, but they're definitely not the third worst team in MLB.

Coming into today, the Twins, Angels, Red Sox, Pirates and Philles only had 1 HR each. The Cubbis had 0.

So far today, the Cubs got 2 today and the Twins got 1. I think everyone else is still at 1

And CJ Wilson, the guy that Darvish is effectively replacing, threw a gem for the Angels

Obviously it's just one game, but it's kinda funny

Well, so far my decision not to go near Davrish with a ten foot pole in fantasy baseball is working out wonderfully. (The fact that my manager at work is the one who picked him up is...just priceless.)

He actually went just before I could laugh and not take him. Took Posey the round before, Latos that round, though that didn't work so well for his first start.

Oh man someone is trying HARD to get Fielder from me. Dangling Weaver to me when the best pitchers I have are Price and Ian Kennedy. Gotta think about that one.

I'm pretty sure the Jays have 2, both from their opener vs. the Indians.
