Good for her. I think she's great and honest. She comes from a moderately conservative background, which is why she got into economics, and has been on this crusade because the evidence she found was not what the narrative is. Best of luck to her, wish I could vote for her.

That said....it should be mentioned that the reason money probably isn't pouring into the Brown campaign is because he's a RINO and the loss of a single Republican vote in the Senate is probably not going to hurt them that much. Realistically, even if Warren does get onto all the right committees, she's really the only person that has made a campaign out of this. Lots of other Democrats have paid it lip service, but she is the only one who will really push for it. It will take a lot more people like her to get the ball rolling.

2012-04-09 07:13:49 PM
Slate is so cute the way it tried to make it look like she's getting most of her money from the 99 percenters. The last analysis by AP showed her getting almost as much from lawyers as Brown got from "Wall Street."

Also, she was getting donations from the financial industry, just not nearly as much as Brown.

I wish she'd grow her hair out, maybe, another three inches. Given that length, I'd like to see how she looked with some version of a french braid.

I know I'm silly to think in such a manner.

another thing that gets me about Elizabeth Warren - I can't figure out why the Republicans hate her. I could see having a strong disagreement with her policy positions...that's just par for the course. but I've heard Limbaugh and Beck go full on hate binges over this woman. They don't even say WHY they hate Warren, just that she's evil and has to be stopped.

from what i've read of her policy positions, she seems to be a moderate centrist, occasionally leaning leftwards and asking some powerful people uncomfortable questions. But that's no reason for a Limbaugh hatefest.

Barack. Obama.

Because the president with an MBA and 'business experience' did SO much better.

She looks homely to me in those. Not that she's the Elephant Man, but none of those photos would make a guy want to bend her over the dining room table and put it to her.

I would, but i find intelligence sexy.

What if she suffers from horrible and persistent gas ....

It is sexist to comment on her physical appearance or make judgments on her attractiveness. Can you imagine the criticism if she weighed as much as Chris Christie?

Also, would someone give her a sugar cube, for gawd's sake.

Because their base is stupid, as the usual right-wingers in this thread prove every time they hit 'Add comment,' and the republicans know that their base will take they say as gospel truth without questioning?

They don't hate her for her policies per se. They hate her because their base wants to hate her.

FriarReb98: Scott Brown's problem is that he's a Republican in Massachusetts. To residents, that makes him an extremist and a crazy guy. To outsiders, that makes him wishy-washy and a RINO. Neither of which are probably right or wrong, but this is politics and people get retarded around politics.

Not to say I trust her either; I really don't like the idea of people with a primarily academic background trying to become politicians, especially when most of her background is solely economic and she's trying to run for the less economic side of Congress.

What sort of background would you prefer?

Also, I will wait and see if The Walking Dead is worth watching for another season, whether a movie people might actually watch will some day again win Best Picture at the Academy Awards and if that mole on my co-workers neck will end up killing him. Wait and see.

2012-04-09 07:39:35 PM
Weaver95: so what don't you like about her policy positions?

They all eminate from the same central philosophy that so many Farkers here subscribe to: that more top-down solutions imposed by central planners in government bureaucracies can solve the economic malaise that has been plaguing us since the onset of the financial crisis. Exhibit A

It shows an alarming misunderstanding of what caused the crisis in the first place, and while her rhetoric makes for convenient 30 second sound bites for Farkers to quote in a picture like the one posted above, it doesn't get at the heart of the problem nor does it elevate the level of the debate. She never acknowledges the public choice-area problems (for lack of a better descriptor) that plague our political system - she thinks that whatever administrator is put in charge of regulating an industry (be it banking or something else) won't face any significant informational problems regarding their ability to adequately regulate the industry REGARDLESS of how immune to regulatory capture the administrator may be. Hence how she could support a monstrosity like the consumer Financial Protection Bureau in a monumentally bad piece of legislation like Dodd-Frank.

She's made other statements in the press about the "rich" and their "fair share" and all the same class-envy bullshiat that we've been hearing for god knows how long now - they do NOTHING to advance the debate beyond, "They have more than us; they must've gotten it by taking it from someone else, so we should take it all from them!"

She's nothing more than a typical Democratic politician who's subject to her own pressures and influences as a Democratic politician.

The problem with Barry isn't that he's educated, it's just that he has nothing else to offer. Most conservatives thought he would be bad, but he's surpassed those expectations to the point of hilarity.

He may have a degree from harvard but it's become painfully obvious he doesn't have the skills to run an ice cream stand and can't negotiate his way out of a paper bag. And by his recent statements about the supreme court, he doesn't seem to even have a basic grasp of how the three branches of our government are supposed to work. That's like 5th grade shiat.

He's a terrible president and all of those folks who are emotionally invested in this guy have the undesirable task of turd polishing for the next few months.

You are so incisive. God bless you for the wonderful work you are doing for humanity. I can now see how the collapse of tax revenues and the off-budget costs of two wars were caused by top down solutions. I guess reversing them would be more of the same, so my question is, would it be better to devolve into Somalia?
