It's the overlap between those categories you really need to worry about.

If every damn pr0n video wasn't titled "Young hottie takes the big one", then we wouldn't have to click on every damn video to see what it's really like, thus reducing global bandwidth problems.

/that's my excuse and I'm stickin' to it.

I was wondering how the three got completely separated out.

wow... so the majority of the internet is not porn?

/ color me surprised

2012-04-09 02:58:57 PM
I could easily spend 30% of a day surfing pron. Hell, I've probably already spent 30% of my life doing it.

I'm not proud of it.

30% porn
50% piracy
10% youtube
5% social networking
2% VOIP
2% lolcats
1% e-commerce (includes netflix)

The report uncovered the viewing figures for Xvideos from Google's DoubleClick Ad Planner, which uses cookies to gather information about users.

So in other words, these numbers are an understatement?

Yeah, i gotta think more is porn.

What is the old saying, 60% of men admit to looking at porn online, the 40% are lying

2012-04-09 03:05:52 PM
Remember the old days with whack-a-mole pop ups you had to kill before somebody looked over your shoulder?

2012-04-09 03:06:04 PM
I think 30% is a bit high, but ... Years ago, on-line porn earned more money than all forms of other e-commerce combined. But what about now? Does anyone actually pay money to watch porn on-line? How does the porn industry make so much money?

2012-04-09 03:07:50 PM
Fark'n cats?

2012-04-09 03:07:59 PM
and ponies, of course.

Yes, I pay my ISP for the privilege.

i'm sure plenty of people would rather pay for what they want now. Also, cam sites, advertising, things like that still make big money.

also, if you are a standard pervert that isn't very computer literate, there is something to be said for paying for sites you can trust, that don't have viruses or spyware embedded in the downloads.

Huck Chaser: It's the overlap between those categories you really need to worry about.

Between foobies.com (NSFW) and Caturday, there IS a substantial overlap.

In fact, online porn gave rise to the understanding of libel laws as they pertained to the internet.

Alyssa Milano became annoyed because people were stripping her head off of her photos and 'shopping it onto nude models. She asked her lawyer if there was anything she could do about it, and what came out was the beginning of internet laws. Before they had to charge you with wire fraud, and it was hard to get it before a judge because not many judges even knew what the internet was at the time.

Me thinks that they switched the numbers; 70% is pRon and 30% is everything else.

/ also, 90% of all statistics are made up

Often people with hard-core porn addictions are embezzling the money. Or working as scum suckers.

The internet has really cleaned up its act. In the 90s it was 75% porn.

Also in one year the male porn actors combined ejaculate 60 gallons of semen.
Heard that in a documentay, so it has to be true

/wonder how much money a jizz mopper makes?

And 25% of Fark is cats anyway, so I'm thinking porn and cats share a majority of internet traffic.

They also assume that visitors to these websites are only streaming one video at a time.
