thank you for that *stunning* report, captain obvious.
2001-11-12 04:51:04 PM
haha.. me first.
2001-11-12 04:54:00 PM
Yeah, but frantic arm flapping will rise sharply.
2001-11-12 04:55:56 PM
I know it's sad to say, but I'm sure the folks at Amtrak and Greyhound are loving it...
2001-11-12 04:57:57 PM
Yep, CNN is really on top of things with this one.
2001-11-12 04:58:18 PM
Well, I'd call that a Force-Five on the Duh-O-Meter.
2001-11-12 04:58:32 PM
Loving it? Geez.
2001-11-12 04:58:54 PM
I wouldnt have guessed
2001-11-12 04:59:59 PM
As a close relative to John Q. Public, I absolutely DO understand that planes crash, however, it seems to me that they are falling out of the sky much too frequently, with or without the help of terrorists. Airlines can't lower prices enough for me to fly right now. I expect a report to come out that emphasis has been solely on checking bags and passengers and not on maintenance. Oops!
2001-11-12 05:00:32 PM
Stupidity Filter Alert.
2001-11-12 05:00:39 PM
ML, haven't you heard that Amtrak is considering BK?
2001-11-12 05:02:11 PM

No shiat Sherlock.

ME_GRIMLOCK: Go crazy? :)

Good use of the obvious tag.
2001-11-12 05:05:12 PM
The thought of a drunken Peter Buck scares me more than a crash does...
2001-11-12 05:05:43 PM
Susieloveselvis: BK? Burger King? Bankruptcy? Bad Karma?

And I didn't meaning 'loving it' in the sense that they want planes to crash, nobody wants that. It's just that thier business is going to pick up after all of this. I know I'm certainly not going to fly any time soon.
2001-11-12 05:06:25 PM
In a related story, people who get shot often dislike being hit by bullets.
2001-11-12 05:08:51 PM
No, this crash isn't going to hurt the airline industry, as crashes like this have happend before. What's going to hurt the industry is their shiat-poor job of security in the past (and present), coupled with the paranoia Joe American has, since we all know terrorists are out to get the every day man.

"John Q Public needs to understand that we do have accidents. It's usually in the first eight minutes up and in the last eight minutes down."

...provided you are on a 20 minute flight...
2001-11-12 05:14:55 PM
2001-11-12 05:16:42 PM
well, if CNN wasnt contributing, maybe i wouldnt laugh at this.. i mean, what help is CNN doing by showing people running from burning shiat droping from the skies? thats REALLY gonna make me want to fly, altho i just did last weekend, and im going to this weekend also!
2001-11-12 05:17:28 PM
Oh my god have you guys seen the new x10 wireless video camera. Looks awesome.
2001-11-12 05:17:35 PM
Hell, why worry about crashes. They cut the partial pressure of oxygen down so much on those flights that you are assuredly going to get brain damage, and possible air rage.

What is worse, the entire air crew is functioning in an environment not conducive to clear thinking or quick reflexes.

They save about 80 bucks per plane per flight with that ploy, but it keeps them from ever selling _me_ a ticket.
2001-11-12 05:18:28 PM
"John Q Public needs to understand that we do have accidents. It's usually in the first eight minutes up and in the last eight minutes down."

Does this "fact" make anyone feel better? Who gives a crap at what part of a flight accidents "usually" happen. Its not like you can avoid those parts of the flight or something...

What a totally useless statement...
2001-11-12 05:19:30 PM
Freddiemiles1: Yes, I have seen it

At least 3 trillion times!
2001-11-12 05:22:52 PM
Thanks Mme.Mersault, but to be honest, it was an unintentional play on words.
2001-11-12 05:23:40 PM
"John Q Public needs to understand that we do have accidents. It's usually in the first eight minutes up and in the last eight minutes down."

Or, as the technical wizards that we call Airline Pilots call it: Take Off and Landing! See, perfectally safe when one is floating freely in the air and not zooming off or towards the earth at 400 miles per hour!
2001-11-12 05:24:21 PM
CNN says airline crash may cause drop in air travel

Perhaps if the airlines would stop dropping people, the drop in airline travel would cease.
2001-11-12 05:26:45 PM
best time to travel tho
2001-11-12 05:28:09 PM
Well... Duh!
2001-11-12 05:30:23 PM
Now that they are offering refunds for people afraid to travel, I'm seriously considering turning in my ticket for January to New Orleans.

This latest 'crash' is obviously a terrorist attack. Say what you will about driving, it's clearly not safe to fly.
2001-11-12 05:34:54 PM
unbelieveable. this post, by whatever brain surgeon posted it, makes it up, but my post this AM about hackerwhacker getting owned doesn't. ya wanna talk conspiracy? this place is a fugkling joke.
2001-11-12 05:35:20 PM
Well I do know a guy who places his head between his knees for the first 8 minutes and the last 8 minutes because his wife has him convinced he's safe during the middle. I'm not sure if it really helps him for the middle or if it just makes him more likely to shiat in his pants during the beginning and the end.
2001-11-12 05:36:31 PM

I wouldn't be too comfortable driving either, those falling planes gotta hit somewhere...
2001-11-12 05:36:48 PM
How does having you head between you knees help you in a plane crash?
2001-11-12 05:39:29 PM

heh that makes that guy about as safe wearing his seat belt...another brilliant airline procedure.

When was the last time anyone heard

"Today in the news two jumbo jets crashed into each other midflight....but fortunately there were no deaths as everyone was wearing their seatbelts..."
2001-11-12 05:39:40 PM
In other news, the National Association of Determining What Color the Sky Is has released a report chronicling their 25 year study into what color the sky is.

"It's blue."
2001-11-12 05:41:17 PM

Its called air turbalence. Causes more deaths than crashes.
2001-11-12 05:41:40 PM
Well, one things for sure, American Airlines will be going broke now. Surely they can't stay afloat any longer.
2001-11-12 05:41:43 PM
Nervous Passenger: How often do these planes crash?
Stewardess: Usually just the once, sir.

Caboozy - it makes it easier to kiss your ass goddbye.
2001-11-12 05:48:55 PM

In all the flights I've been on (over 60 or so in twenty years, mostly 6hour+ flights) I have never been on a flight that turbulance has caused that kind of a problem. Hell I've never even heard of a situation where someone died on a plane that didnt kill just about everyone on board...

Seriously though, dont mind me, I've been awake far too long and Im in an odd mood, and cant help these odd and somewhat random rants...
2001-11-12 05:57:03 PM in other words, MAKE YOUR TRAVEL PLANS NOW!!!

-he who stacks pork
2001-11-12 05:58:01 PM
I'm going to fly more than ever...via F-18.
2001-11-12 06:07:39 PM
Uhh, M0ppy, this kind of post is what the Fark [image from too old to be available] was made for. You know, CNN put incredibly obvious content on their site, and we make fun of them for it.
2001-11-12 06:11:01 PM
Flying is dumb and gay anyway.
2001-11-12 06:12:07 PM
Well, I'd call that a Force-Five on the Duh-O-Meter.

Here are some kudos. I haven't laughed that hard in quite a while. It probably wasn't really that funny, but I found it simply hilarious. Many thanks.
2001-11-12 06:15:08 PM
I heard they also released a poll and 75% of the all people makes up about 3/4 of the population.
2001-11-12 06:15:12 PM
Let's PHOTOSHOP some shiat
2001-11-12 06:48:22 PM
Lets not think of this as a blow to the airline industry so much as a potential boom to the long-distance catapult market.
