If you're the government, how the FARK do you prove when a woman menstruated?

Confidential medical records? Federal agents in their homes? Uterus-cam?

WTF?

From what I gather about Arizonians:

They don't like male/female vaginal sex, but they love oral and anal sex.

Jake Havechek: So can the cops stop you on the street and use the vaginal probe on you?

Any male may use the probe on any female at any time. It's only fair.

Kim Jong-il: FTA: Also favoring the proposal, Senator Steve Smith (R-Maricopa) adds that lawmakers also need to consider "the 50 million-plus children who have been killed" since the US Supreme Court legalized abortion in Roe v Wade.

"I would like to listen to the 50 million-plus children that have been aborted and killed since Roe v. Wade,'' the senator says."I would like to listen to what they think of this bill.''

Roe v. Wade was what, 39 years ago? That would mean more than 1.28 million abortions per year on average in the United States. I'm not calling BS (yet), but is that a realistic number? I find it hard to believe that there are that many abortions going on.

from the time roe v wade was instituted until 2008, there were 50 million legal abortions in America alone.

/this IS truly reprehensible. It is genocide on a scale previously unheard of.

Watch out, any Farkers in Arizona, because if you even walk past someone is under 18, this means you can be arrested for statutory rape. That girl might be pregnant, you could be the father, so why the hell not?

Don't like murder? Then mind your own f*cking business and don't do any. People at like it's about womens' "rights" to their own bodies when the real issue is that you have another human being whose life you are ending. that is an incontrovertible fact. intentionally ending another human being's life is murder. again, another incontrovertible fact.

problem is, Liberals prefer feelings over facts. this bill doesn't declare that women are necessarily pregnant 2 weeks before conception, but, in doing the math to protect human life, uses the earliest estimate of when the child could have been conceived.

No, men masturbate too. Since this is just a war on women, they are going after menstruation.

You're playing awful fast and loose with these so called "facts."

Define life in such a way as it will be mutually accepted by all parties. Then you have a fact. Until then spare me your sanctimonious bullshiat. Your little tirade right there shows me you're prone to acting on emotions just as much as those you accuse of the same.

But, since bald-faced hypocrisy is the MO of the contemporary GOP, I shouldn't expect any different.

Seriously. I don't think I've actually liked any of the medical procedures I've been through (except for that one thing) - I just like that they available for me when I needed them. Why would it be any different for women and abortion?

Yet there are also states trying to pass bills that also restrict access to birth control or to emergency contraceptives which, unlike abortion or abortion medication, is just the PREVENTION of egg implantation. Are you in favor of that? Because, seriously, that's happening in some parts of the country.

As for abortion, it's not a human being. By law and by concept it's not alive unless it has had its first breath outside of the womb. Most women, not all, but most women who carry a baby that long into term don't exactly have abortion on their mind so I don't even worry about most fetuses 7 months or older because they have a greater chance of being born successfully. However it is not even a human being if it cannot survive outside of the womb so anything within the second trimester and before, it's essentially a parasitic clump of cells and it's up to the host whether or not she'll carry it to term.

Abortion, despite what most pro-lifers like to say about pro-choicers, is a horrible and painful decision for many women to make. It's hard but in many cases inevitable. So, in short "Mind your f*cking business" is a pretty apt thing to tell someone.

They require that the physician performing the abortion or the referring physician examine the woman and estimate the "probable gestational age".

From the bill:
"In making that determination, the physician or referring physician shall make any inquiries of the pregnant woman and perform or cause to be performed all medical examinations, imaging studies and tests as a reasonably prudent physician in the community, knowledgeable about the medical facts and conditions of both the woman and the unborn child involved, would consider necessary to perform and consider in making an accurate diagnosis with respect to gestational age."

The architects of the amendment say that prohibiting abortion after 20 weeks - except in cases of medical emergency - is necessary for the safety of both mother and child.

No, it isn't. First of all, it's not a child, it's a fetus. Second of all, a woman is 14 and 1/2 more times likely to die giving birth than having an abortion. The safety of women is not a concern of yours at all. Stop your goddamn lying.

bullshiat and you know it. Otherwise in murder cases (or wrongful death/injury) where a pregnant woman was killed (or injured causing the death of the fetus), the perp could not be charged with the murder of the unborn child.

Wow, you farkers are idiots. You do realize that this is how it is figured. If you are pregnant, your last cycle is how they figure the age of the fetus and the due date for when the child will be born. "When was your last cycle" is the first question the doctor/nurse asks when you are pregnant.

/pro choice
//get it done by the end of the first trimester

2012-04-09 11:14:55 AM
Again with the "we're doing this to protect the mother" stuff? Look, if this is about believing abortion is wrong, fine. But repeating stating that abortion is a dangerous procedure for a woman to undergo doesn't make it true: the rate of death or injury during childbirth is several times the rate for abortion.

I am actually really sympathetic to the idea of restricting abortion access at some point (since I do believe that the decision to terminate is a decision with moral consequences, though not necessarily always immoral.) What I can't stand is these attempts that are inherently punitive in nature and try to spread lies about the procedure in the hopes of deterring what they know they won't be able to ban.

2012-04-09 11:15:28 AM
"Is a fetus a human being? This seems to be the central question. Some people say life begins at fertilization, when sperm fertilizes egg. But even after the egg is fertilized it's still 6-7 days before it reaches the uterus and pregnancy begins and not every egg makes it that far. 80% of a woman's fertilized eggs are rinsed and flushed our of her body once a month during those delightful few days she has. They wind up on sanitary napkins yet they are fertilized eggs. So basically what anti-abortion people say is that any woman whose had more than one period is a serial killer."

- George Carlin

jst3p: I am not on the right. I am pro-choice. That being said I see this retarded talking point all too frequently. I know it is a simple way of thinking and that is convenient but knowing a fair amount of right wing nutjobs I can say it is completely inaccurate, in general. Not that you are likely interested in convincing anyone of anything but if you were it would be difficult for you. The intellectual laziness demonstrated here just tells those who disagree with you that you aren't interested in understanding their point of view. They will flippantly dismiss you just as you have them without even thinking.

i can smile and nod at the sentiment, but at some point i've got to admit...i'm just not too concerned with their point of view, or seeing things from their perspective.

in other words, if the benchmark for avoiding intellectual laziness is a desire to dumb yourself down so the illogical has to make some fraction of sense just because it is espoused, i'll pass.

They write shiat like this all the time, without bothering to figure out how to enforce or fund it... Just like the fact that you have to show ID to buy Sudafed, AZ made this a law before it was a federal regulation, yet they never bothered to figure out who would collect the paperwork, who would review it, and who would enforce it. I don't even know if they've bothered to fix that yet, or if they are still having an issue with mounds of paperwork that just sits there...

so, the real question is, if I got pregnant right now, does that mean that my gestational age is 14 months since I am currently breastfeeding, or do they count giving birth as a period, in which case my gestational age is only around 6 months?
