Glad she came back safely.

Perhaps FARK could adopt an ALERT tag to give farkers a heads up for missing close ones. (tag could also immediately jump to top of the feed.) Only mention this because it seemed like that even if FARK didn't directly help in the recovery, it was still a good place of support (with help of the vigilant troll smiters)

Good. Now, kick her out.

All's well that ends well. Glad to hear she's safe, Capt.
And good luck with what comes next. I salute you and your wife for your hard work with this girl.

YAAAHH!!! Now make her write out this entire thread.

2012-04-09 07:34:01 AM
Awesome news Capt! Hope you got a good night's rest

2012-04-09 07:55:54 AM
I registered just to post to Captain I'm in PA and would keep a lookout. By the time I was able to post, she was found. YAY!
But sheesh! I'm allways late to the party... *pouts*

2012-04-09 07:57:25 AM
Glad she's ok!

2012-04-09 08:00:16 AM
Glad to hear the good news. I was hoping she just went on an impromptu spring break and would turn up just fine. Relieved that seems to be what happened.

Unlike Capt's kid apparently.

/glad she's safe
//attach an ear tag to track her movements in the future

I'm so glad she's back! I've been lurking and worrying. I wish your family peace and strength; I know this isn't easy, but I'm sure I don't know the depths of how difficult it really is.

2012-04-09 08:23:26 AM
Hooray!!! I am so glad to hear the good news. You must be relieved as hell. Now go give her a great big hug (and a swift kick to the ass for scaring the shiat out of you)!

2012-04-09 08:24:14 AM
No dessert for her!

2012-04-09 08:32:17 AM
Thank goodness.

2012-04-09 08:41:18 AM

solitary: She's not really his "daughter". She voted with her feet before she'd even stayed one week in his house. Maybe she had good reason to run away? Without exception, verybody I know who has been in foster care has horrific stories to tell. Why would she need an 8 hour trip to the ER? She had a emergency? Or was she just being probed and swabbed as punishment for her "unclean" behavior?

The whole thing is very fishy.

Hmmm.. 4 days of partying equals a seriously intoxicated person. Stack them in a corner and watch them for seizures, DT's, etc.

I would also guess a MH assessment was also done.

Cap'n hasn't said, but I wouldn't be surprised she doesn't get some charges out of it. And at 17, she is looking at adult jail.

I completely missed this happening. Glad to hear it had a good ending, though.

Send her back to the group home.

2012-04-09 09:14:09 AM
Been lurking the past 4 days on this. Glad she's home safe Capt. Can't even imagine doing the job you're doing.

My post at the other thread got nixed for suggesting the posts started to read like satire:

People in the PNW claiming to keep their eyes open
People forming posses fanning out and handing out flyers
One guy suggested she might go to Philly for a cheese-steak

a little surreal

In the end, she was a few miles away drinking hard lemonade in a basement.
Maybe you should not make her read this thread. It might mess with her ego a bit.
Hopefully Capt, that was her bottom. I am sure the Capt knows what to do from here
as he is her guardian. The tone of this thread is a finger pointing "Now look here missy..."
kind of deal. It is not a panacea for teenage angst.

solitary: She's not really his "daughter".

I did find it rather odd that he would refer to someone he is paid to look after as his "daughter". That's somewhere between odd and creepy.

2012-04-09 09:46:39 AM
... but now we want to go to those parties.

2012-04-09 09:49:52 AM
I'm happy she's home, but mostly I just wanted to say, that's pretty awesome that the elementary school has a rugby team. I think I'll send my child there.

2012-04-09 09:55:45 AM
It is obvious which ones didn't read all the updates in the other thread.
He already thinks of her as his daughter because he has known her for years. He was involved in her case management before he and his wife became the foster parents. He has NOT just known this girl for a week.
As for him waiting to give more details, rather than laying all the dirty laundry out on day 1: legally speaking, as a foster parent he has a very fine line to walk as far as what he can put in public. It's one thing for a parent or a news publication to do it; quite another for a foster parent.

Capt- hope she's recovering well from the come-down. Best of luck!

2012-04-09 09:59:16 AM
So glad that she's been found alive and hopefully the next few days and months will give you all time to start to rebuild trust.

I can't imagine what you're all going through, but sending continued positive vibes and thankful for the update.

taurusowner:

She had sex, probably with more than one person, and it's very unlikely it was all protected, if at all.

Accept it, teach the good lessons from that and don't push her away from you further by blowing up. Get more blood work done in a few weeks. I'm sure the hospital did, but so soon after the event, any STDs that may be in her might not have reproduced enough to show up. Be prepared for the worst. Pray the outcome of this is just a big headache for you and her, but 4 days of partying is a recipe for disaster. A baby would actually be one of the better of the bad outcomes.

Are you farking serious? You "did the spring break thing" in college, so every teenage girl who runs away surely has had sex with multiple people? Here, I'll be your anecdotal evidence to the contrary. I was a teenage girl, and you're full of shiat.

Wonderful news! I had been kind of wondering over the weekend, glad to hear she's back and safe.

2012-04-09 10:26:52 AM

taurusowner: Just want to say I'm glad she's back home safe. No matter what happened/s it's better than the alternative. I've seen plenty of cases at work where it doesn't turn out so well.

I would recommend not flipping out right now. Wait a few days and try to have a real discussion about what all happened while she was gone. You need to know what happened so that you can decide how to prepare for what may be the negative results. I did the spring break thing in college, seen how teen girls act, and have had to deal with a lot more of the negative fallout of the party atmosphere as a cop. Brace yourself for the worst.

I happened to catch some MMA show this weekend, where they were fighting for a chance to represent the USA vs British fighters. One fella showed up with a sore on his forehead. The host pulled him aside and pretty much said, "Dude, that's a herpes sore. You can't fight ever again, get the fark outta here." I'd think a baby would be very preferable in this guy's case.

You're not allowed to give alternative 'real talk', or any talk, unless it's of the 'thoughts and prayers' variety, when board members are involved, Solitary -- and especially not if the board member is a paying subscriber. Exceptions are made for non-subscribers, if the targeters are subscribers.

You don't have a yellow star next to your name, so you're mud around these parts.

She's kinda cute.
In two years time I'd be glad to donate to her "college fund" one $20 bill at a time.

Someone far more eloquent than I once explained it thusly:
I make fun of death unless the person who died was a user of this Web site, in which case I offer up cheap sympathy not for the person who died but for others to see. I am a Farker.

How about this for a "could be worse"

Friend of mine decided years ago to lose his virginity. So he found a girl known for being willing to have sex at the drop of a hat.

problems found out later.

1) she was slightly nuts/psycho

2) All of her roommates (5 or 6 people in a house) had Aids and she didn't find out until after banging all of them several times.

His luck held however. He has documented proof from 3 hospitals doing testing for 6 years, plus random times where there's a free aids test offered for charity, that he never caught the virus.

Glad that this seems to be turning out OK.

And as a bonus, my ignore list has gotten several worthy additions.

Considering that he chose to become her foster father after having been her caseworker in social services (or something like that), I think the good Captain is well aware of that.

Or am I the only one who read his prior postings in the other threads?

Did the roommates know they had AIDs when they had sex with her, and were they prosecuted for manslaughter?

That's great news that she's safe! Woo hoo! Are you going to lock her up now?
