Jeebus, he was 93?

2012-04-08 11:21:52 AM
For those of you expecting to see his wake it will follow immediately at the end of the baseball game. Those of you on the West Coast will see it at its regularly scheduled time.

2012-04-08 11:22:06 AM
really a dumb and expected headline.

simple minds prevail I guess, now everyone's going to chime in on how clever subby is, or how they're going to hell for laughing at the headline.

and neither of those apply to this.

it's not funny, or even cringe-worthy.

Andy Rooney, Mike Wallace - I grew up listening to these guys. Is anyone else actually really sad to hear this news? Maybe this is just a sign that I am getting old.

/ we need more reporters like him
// instead we get Katie Couric, who is so shiatty her name is used to measure shiat

Good night, Dunky Man.

You might be a dunk. Do you know what a dunk is?

Remember when journalists weren't just a bunch of mealy-mouthed wusses obsessed with appearing centrist and fair, to the detriment of the truth?

Yeah, neither do I. I'm only 30.

2012-04-08 11:24:01 AM
RIP, Jesus man

The honorable profession of journalism started to die with the retirement of Walter Cronkite in 1981. Slowly each of the disciplined greats passes to the ages.

The role of the press of speaking truth to power to guard the republic from demagoguery has been abdicated in favor of the lust for profit and private funded agendas.

Unless this trend reverses itself, the republic is doomed.

RIP, news guy.

To this day that "tick-tick-tick" sound always gives me a bad feeling because as a kid my parents would watch it every Sunday but for me it was a reminder that the weekend was over and I had to go back to school the next day. Regardless, 60 Minutes has been and is a great newsmagazine.

This is a tragedy, folks.

It was not too many years ago that he got in trouble for beating up a photographer. The story on E! started off as, "Who knew that Mike Wallace was a ticking time bomb?"

I think I finally laughed at a post on Fark on a famous-person-died thread. Much better than the RIP posts. That was +1 internets.

Hopefully they will show his wake in its entirety

And that's the way it is.

Good night, and good luck.

I'll see you along the way.

And that's part of our world tonight.

Good night and a good tomorrow.

Glad we could get together.

Until tomorrow, may it all be good news to you.

That's the news and I am outta here!

Fark U: This is a tragedy, folks.

The man was 93. It's sad because he was a very talented reporter and did some great work over decades. 9/11 was a tragedy. A 93 year old man dying is sad.
