Coelacanth: I don't think I've ever shed this many tears on Easter before.

Don't cry. This thread is a little sad, but it's mostly happy. It's more about the kindness and caring of the people in our little family here. Don't cry. Be happy to be part of such a great family.

Good to know that the politics tab isn't indicative of the hearts of Farkers. Sad indeed, but the whole story gives me a little more faith in humanity.

RIP buddy.

Unfreakable: coco ebert: Can't this go green? I'm sure there are lots of liters who would be interested to know what happened.

I intended to green it earlier, but got caught up with stuff around the house.

I was doing stuff around the house, too. But after reading this thread, I realized I must've forgotten to dust.

I hate reading the comments when I have something in my eye.

RIP friend.

Kelly, I hope to inspire friendship in someone the way Carl inspired you. You are seriously awesome in my book.

casey.lurvs.bacon: ...TL;DR: Remembering you on the day of your birth, Dog. I hope you are in peace.

As do we all, Kelly...as do we all. BTW: Love the memorial garden you made. It made it all dusty in here.

You know he, Nas, arelas, and all the other Farkers who have gone on to BeyondFark are up to the usual shenanigans, and planning the Ultimate Fark Party for the rest of us when we get there ;)

I never knew him in person, but oh, what a character he was on Facebook.

In Pace Requiescat, Carl.

Was a n00b then, didn't know Carl, and am still sorry to hear of his passing. Sounds like he was a really good guy.

What a great community response; the community fund was a lovely surprise to hear of, as well. You guys can definitely rock. Well done.

Happy birthday, Carl.

Miss you, man.

Thank you for posting this. I've been away from TF for a while and never heard about this, but I remember RabidDog well. If there's a way to donate to the existing fund I would like to do so.

RIP, funnyman.

casey.lurvs.bacon: DO NOT WANT Poster Girl: Bless you casey, looking through the pictures made me tear up again.

How's the fund doing for his daughter? It's cool that the $ went back to Fark emergency fund but it'd also be cool if it went into his daughter's fund...

The child's mother has refused any donations. There is nothing that can be done without her cooperation. This issue was very, very thoroughly investigated by lawyers and financial advisers in the United States and in the UK and there very simply is nothing that could be done.

Really? It would seem that an account can be set aside for her and then paid out for tuition at a later date. So, so sad.

I don't recall posting in the original thread. Quite possibly I was crying too hard.

He was always funny and like my own personal tech support on TF. He ALWAYS showed up and helped. No matter what or when it was.

The garden is lovely and a wonderful memorial. We are all somewhat less for the lack of his presence.

As far as RabidDog is concerned, there no longer is an existing fund. But there is a brand new NaSkAr Kashani/Fark Friendship Fund. Last I heard, as of about a week ago, some final things were being hammered out.....I was asked to hold on for another week or so before forwarding the remaining money from RabidDog's donations to the new Friendship Fund.

If you want to send me an email in a few weeks I will gladly connect you with the person(s) putting that fund together, though I suspect there will be a written announcement here on Fark when it's ready to go.

Yeah. But then someone would have to be the administrator of the fund and would have to track the child down at the age of 18, which won't be for another 8 years. I very very seriously considered it, but in the end, was too intimidated I guess by that kind of responsibility. There was a lot of discussion of all kinds of alternatives, but any professional administrator would have eaten away at the donations just to administer the trust for 8 years. The money left over is significant, but not significant enough for THAT. And lets just be brutally honest. If I had said "send me your money and I'll hold on to it for 8 years and give it to someone else that I don't know" yeah... that probably wouldn't have gone over too well. heh

Even a professional administrator working pro bono is gonna need the child's SSN at some point. That information is not available.

In the end, his mother decided to give the remaining money back to the community.

Coincidence? I think not.

He's gonna rise up from the dead, as a Zombie Farkertm, then we have to start worshiping him?
