Good luck.

Polling in Pennsylvania that shows him slipping against front-runner Mitt Romney raises the prospect of an embarrassing home-state loss that could hurt his chances if he were to make a run for the nomination in 2016.

Santorum knows that he doesn't have a lot of support here in his home state, that's why I think he'd rather just pretend we don't exist right now.

I'm going to vote for him anyway.

And what's up with this "Iowa and New Hampshire always go first" shiate? I want to vote in a meaningful primary at some point in my life without having to move to bumfark East Jabip.

FTA: Polls indicate Pennsylvanians are just as torn about Santorum today as they were six years ago, when he failed in his reelection bid for a third term, losing to Democrat Bob Casey by 18 points, the widest margin anyone can remember.

How the hell is that "torn about Santorum?" It sounds fairly freaking obvious that they...oh...oh sarcasm. Right. Carry on.

Funny how you have the three top candidates in the GOP, and the people in their respective States really don't like them.

That's saying something about the present GOP field.

He's established his bona fides for being next in line for the repub nomination. He's the presumptive nominee in 2016 assuming 1) the repubs don't win this year's election and 2) there is still a repub Party in 2016.

It's easy to sum it up when you're just talking about campaigning. We're sitting in here, and I'm supposed to be the franchise candidate, and we in here talking about campaigning. I mean, listen, we're talking about campaigning, not legislating, not legislating, not legislating, we talking about campaigning. Not legislating. Not, not ... Not the legislating that I go out there and die for and pass every law like it's my last. Not legislating, but we're talking about campaigning, man. I mean, how silly is that?

THIS.

The "Al Gore" rule that "No politician who's unable to win his own home state can expect to run for POTUS and win" is practically gospel in some quarters. Frothy had a slight lead in the polls over Romney but I imagine that will change when the R-money machine goes into high gear. Watching Frothy lose in PA will be a moment to go down in history and instantly qualify for admittance in the Schadenfreude Hall of Fame.

Shouldn't he be talking about his guaranteed mudslide victory?

Marcus Aurelius: And what's up with this "Iowa and New Hampshire always go first" shiate? I want to vote in a meaningful primary at some point in my life without having to move to bumfark East Jabip.

We need to go to a 3-round national primary system, imho. The first round, any person in the country can have his/her/its name on the ballot if he/she/it can get some significant number of signatures, something like 500,000 or whatever.

From those results, you should get a number of viable candidates that can start a campaign. 3 months later, another national primary is held, from which the top ten winners can proceed to Round 2, which whittles the field down to 3 candidates who go to Round 3, which gives the party's candidate to run in the general election.

All this horseshiat about certain states having different allocation systems and greater influence is just anti-democratic, imho.

Gore didn't lose the 2000 Tennessee Democratic primary. He won it with 98% of the vote.

He did lose Tennessee in the general election, but, of course, carried the nation as a whole.

Santorum, on the other hand, can't even win the primary. And as we saw the last time he ran in a general election in PA, he probably couldn't carry it in a general election either. And he certainly couldn't win the nationwide popular vote.

2012-04-07 10:24:17 PM
I'll say this again....This says a lot about him...not a single republican politician from PA will endorse him, or can stand him... (new window)
