I know, Steve Martin already has a ton of movies on that list, but I love 'my blue heaven.'

Yeah, a lot of those aren't funny -- even some of the good films on that list aren't very funny.

In addition to mentions by others, there's no Top Secret or Real Genius, Kilmer's best two films. I got bored before I thought of any other funny ones to check for.

Not too bad a list.

I would have taken out a few to add Stripes, History of the World pt 1, Murder by Death, and a couple of others that escape me right now.

Like the inclusion of Serial Mom. That one gets forgotten.

chewielouie: List fails without:

Zorro, the Gay Blade.
Bad News Bears. (the Original)
Smokey and the Bandit. Jackie Gleason's performance alone is still some of the funniest shiat I've seen on screen.
All of Me.
Evil Dead 2
Army of Darkness

May I swap the original "Longest Yard" for Smokey for the Burt Reynolds vehicle. While I agree Sheriff Buford is a classic character, I have to go with the car chase as the funniest of all time.

I like the first scene with Cleese and the wife. Everything you need to know about the marriage is summarized in a few seconds.

Anyway, what the hell is Pulp Fiction doing on there?

You didn't laugh during Pulp Fiction?
It says "Funniest movies" not comedies.

I wouldn't call it a comedy. And it certainly does have funny bits, but it seems out of place for this list. Four Rooms is a dark comedy. That would be a bit more appropriate. It even has the Tarantino touch.

MoronLessOff: Anyway, what the hell is Pulp Fiction doing on there?

I'd call it a dark comedy.

"I just shot Marvin in the face."

"I gotta stab her three times?"
"No you don't gotta farking stab her three times."

"The day I bring an ODing biatch to your hourse, I'll give her the shot"

"Are you on a cell phone? I don't know you. Prank caller, prank caller!"

"Did you notice a sign outside that says 'dead n-word storage'?"

"Normally both your asses would be dead as farking fried chicken but you happen to pull this shiat while I'm in a transitional period"

"...n-word fell through that. Since then he's developed a speech impediment"
"That's a damned shame"

"If Butch goes to Indochina, I want a n-word hiding in a bowl of rice ready to put a cap in his ass."

"So pretty please with sugar on top, clean the farking car."

....and so on. I don't know if you'd find it in the official comedy section but it's funnier than a lot of comedies.

I have seen every single movie on this list. Neat.

farkeruk: If After Hours had been directed by anyone but Scorsese, no-one would be talking about it. I've tried watching it twice and still don't get the appeal.

I respectfully disagree. "After Hours" is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. It's just pure farce/chaos, with everything getting worse and worse until finally it's the next morning. It's just about a guy who's trying to get home!

Not a bad list overall but it fails in one big area: did not include the best of the Chris Guest movies. "A Mighty Wind" FTW

His Girl Friday is listed, so all is right in the world.

Walter Burns: [on the phone] Well Butch, where are you?... Well, what are you doing there? Haven't you even started?... Listen, it's a matter of life and death!... Well, you can't stop for a dame now! I don't care if you've been after her for six years. Butch - our whole lives are at stake! Are you going to let a woman come between us after all we've been through?... Butch, I'd put my arm in fire for you, up to here. Now you can't double-cross me... Put her on, I'll talk to her.
[talking to the woman]
Walter Burns: Oh, good evening madam. Now listen, you ten-cent glamour girl. You can't keep Butch away from his duty!... What's that?... You say that again, I'll come over there and kick you in the teeth!... Say, what kind of language is that? Now look here you. -
[makes a noise like a horse, hangs up]
Walter Burns: She hung up! What did I say?
