At least from that 60 Minutes piece, and his general douchbaggy nature in any public setting, he comes across as someone who thinks he's 10x more powerful and intelligent than he actually is.

It will be fun seeing him go down in flames when he realizes that they may let Jews into the club, but his chosen set of friends will never let him run the clubhouse.

Get this through your thick skulls Republicans: The Tea Baggers are not your friends. They think everyone is the enemy. They'll eventually turn against themselves but not before chopping you up and wearing your skin as a suit.

The "take out my problem children in the primary" strategy has been happening forever.

The difference being that previous leaders have been smart enough to have multiple layers between themselves and the targeted incumbents. Cantor may was well have gone to a rally and thrown a rotten cabbage.

A politician acted without thinking? Unpossible.

One look at Cantor tells you everything you need to know. He practically screams "creepy self centered douchenozzle dickbag asshole". Maybe not in that order, but close.

i was thinking "dickbag punchable face in the closet bigot".

But that's just semantics. Tea Partier works for me.

He really thinks he's smart enough and powerful enough to remake Congress to his specifications.

I hope that PAC donates that money to whoever's running against him this year.

Isn't Cantor a Republican incumbent?

The Tea Party breaks decades of party unity and discipline. It's weakened the Republicans to the point that they can't even field a middle of the road candidate without a major chunk of the party outright dismissing him as unelectable.

It's like the demons that haunt the Democrats have come to haunt the Republicans now.

Remember when the conservatives had a resurgence in the 70's and 80's led by intellectuals like Buckley who made cases for pragmatic counterintuitive positions, and were able to turn people against post-New Deal liberals who were suggesting utopian goals?

Yeah, now the liberals are the ones who caution that their policies will make things better but may not be ideal while conservatives have treated their policy goals as dogma that will lead to a perfect world.

We've gone from the John Birch Society getting kicked out of conservative policy circles for being nuts who saw communist spies under their bed to letting the John Birch Society host CPAC for the last few years: pathetic.

So, how long until the Tea Party adopts the Sith Rule Of Two?

I don't know if this is outfit is just teabagging, or a relic from the Contract With America days. Many of the 94 and 96 Republicans signed pledges to not go to Washington for more than a few years.

IIRC, was three terms in the House, two in the Senate. A few broke the pledges. Many others kept them. A "meh" story if there ever was one. Other than the constituents, does anyone in the House really miss Jack Murtha? How about Byrd and Kennedy in the Senate?

//Yes, I live in a racially-gerrymandered district. My rep will be there until he retires or dies.

C'mon guys, it's not fair to blame the Tea Party!

Remember, they have no political affiliation -- Democrats, Independent, Republicans -- the Tea Party is made up of everyone who believes in cutting down on government spending and creating jobs!

It's a power play by Cantor. He wants to be Speaker of the House badly. He knows Boehner is a weak speaker and has done what he has to undermine Boehner, like causing the budget ceiling cap compromise to fall through. He is trying to oust Boehner's support base and get people more likely to be open to voting for him over Boehner. Cantor is an egomaniac and a sociopath, so he doesn't care who he steps on or screws over to achieve his goal.

He's already gone Derp.

Cantor is relatively young, in a safe district and has an unquenchable thirst for power. He's also a world-class asshole and isn't above any action to get just a step higher.

He'll politically slit Boehner's throat sometime after the 2012 election, whether the Republicans hold their majority or not. The only way he leaves is if he has a way to get even more power or money somewhere else.

2012-04-07 12:48:21 PM
As a Liberal I could give a Fark less if the Republicans want to eat themselves alive. In fact, I'm all for it.
