Doesn't suggest that AT ALL? The 911 calls show that Zimmerman had lost Martin. Why did Martin return?

City of Sanford prepares for response to George Zimmerman decision

SANFORD, Fla. -

The city of Sanford is preparing for the outcome of the special prosecutor's decision about George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watchman who shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin but has not been charged.

Sanford Mayor Jeff Triplett said on Thursday that the city's emergency management team has met regularly with the U.S Department of Justice to construct a plan. Officials said extra police officers and fire department officials are on standby. Neighboring agencies have also been asked to assist, if needed.

"You always prepare for the worst and hope for the best," Triplett said. "We're planning for the 'what-if' case scenario, and that would be to make sure that all of our citizens get the protection they pay their taxes for."

Triplett noted that previous protests have been peaceful, and he hopes that trend continues.

"Those that would like to make this a defining moment for the city of Sanford are wrong, and we just have to make sure that we do a good job of making sure that that's not our lasting image," Triplett said.

It's not known when Angela Corey, a state attorney appointed as the special prosecutor by Gov. Rick Scott, will make a ruling.

Residents said they feel the pressure of the decision looming over the community.

"Sanford is still a good little town," said Jimbo Carter of McRoberts Auto Center. Carter has been working at the auto center in Sanford for 30 years and he said the outcome of the decision could hurt the town.

"Yeah, I'm worried if he's not charged (that) we're gonna have trouble in this town," Carter said.

But Tommy Oliver, who was born and raised in Sanford, said he isn't concerned at all.

"People march, but this a new day and age and not too much is going to happen," Oliver said.

Zimmerman, 28, hasn't been arrested or charged in the Feb. 26 shooting death of Martin, sparking outrage across the nation.

Zimmerman claims the shooting was in self-defense after he was attacked by Martin. Martin's parents say their son was the victim of an attack fueled by racial profiling. Link (new window)

Actually the worst thing is that's not entirely true. In the sense that in some places, some parts of Iowa are like the Far Far Far Far West Suburbs of Chicago. Sure, no Buona Beef, no Portillo's, no Flukey's, no one-of-a-thousand-places-that-are-named-after-a-bad-hot-dog-pun, but a reasonable facsimile. And the wife just took the kids off to some activity and told me I have to get my own lunch.

So there's that.

I've read the police report, nothing about Zimmerman being punched in the face by Martin or getting his head pounded either or Martin returning from somewhere to attack him.

that picture is BS and if you had a lick of common sense you would know it, there is no farkin way an EMT wouldn't have taken someone with a wound (ANY HEAD WOUND) like that to the hospital but you want rational people believe he was fixed up in 15 minutes in the back of a squad car

Funny how the "wound" only shows up in a couple of stills

the only possible way a nose or a head could be bloodied is by being punched or slammed into the sidewalk? is that correct?

so, to recap, all you proven is that you have no proof of anything you say and you should be ignored by reasonable people

Grainy police footage released, hard to tell if marks on Zimmerman's head are an injury or something else

There is NO evidence to Zimmerman's Story! Why doesn't he have any visible injuries??? It looks like he made up that whole "attack" story and the police covered it up! Something doesn't add up here.

High resolution police footage released, injuries on Zimmerman's head are clearly visible and indicate a severe attack

LOL. You work for CSI now?

That may very well be correct (or not) according the law. Which is why backpedalling laws that re-invent society just to satisfy the herp-a-derp crowd result in endless protest, divisive unrest, and mortal danger to innocent folk on both sides of the action.

So your saying that the bleeding nose and head wounds that were noted on the police report and treated by paramedics are either a figment of their imagination, part of a coverup or possibly self-inflicted by Zimmerman?

They picked up Zimmerman and questioned him. After being given his side of the story, they let him go, with his gun. They didn't actually arrest or charge him with anything.

There are a lot of people calling for the arrest of Zimmerman based on their own assessment of probable cause. A lot of them are actually right - 99% of officers I've been around would have enough of a case to put a guy in a jail cell based solely off of the fact that he admitted to firing the gun and that there was an altercation of some kind.

I think the part a lot of people don't understand is why they simply let him go. In most cases I'm aware of, a guy who shoots an unarmed individual usually spends a bit of time downtown as either a suspect or a person of interest. And by a bit of time I mean days, maybe weeks.

I don't think it's wise for anyone to say Zimmerman is guilty of anything. I also find it naive and facetious to try to put forward a "what about innocent until proven guilty" argument in a society that sees hundreds of thousands of arrests based on suspicion and association daily, and is treated as guilty until proven innocent by its own Transportation Safety Administration.

Kid might have gotten into a dumbfark situation and bit off more than he could chew. Or, some wacko wannabe cop with a gun and an issue with black kids in the neighborhood (see: his gazillion other 911 calls) went on a paranoia trip and it all spiraled out of control. I doubt it's a case of white guy stalking innocent black boy, shooting him, and going "YEE HAW I GOT ME A NAYGUR"... and I also doubt Trayvon and his hoodie, while chatting on a cell phone, came across as unbelievably suspicious based on anything besides skin color.

I'll wait for the grand jury to give its opinion. Until then, how about everyone calms the fark down a bit?

Well said!

I might add that most people are 'clamouring' for an investigation and due process, not necessary a murder conviction.

They just want to see this thing investigated to death because of how botched and flakey the initial investigation was. I see absolutely no reason why this shouldn't be extra-investigated, and I see no problem with people asking for this.

I don't think Zimmerman needs to be arrested pending the investigation. He was let go. That mistake was already made. Let him be free until the trial, and then we'll see what happens. He doesn't seem to be a flee-the-country type.

I think a big part of the problem with the pro-zimmerman comments here and elsewhere is the whole "Oh, so lets convict him for murder based on your internet assessement?" No. No one is saying that, and if they are, they're wrong.

Get past strawman defense. It's just causing threadshiating.
