Feminist gets some butthurt because she's too derpy to look out where she's going, gets saved by a MAN, and admits to swooning just the littlest bit at the fact that it was Ryan Gosling. In order to salve said butthurt, she has to pen a piece reaffirming her feminism otherwise NOW and GLAD won't send her that toaster oven.

/am I doing it right?

She wasn't wrong, but she might have been inappropriate.

I'm not saying she should have been down on her knees, slobbering his knob out of gratitude, but, you know how your mom told you that some times it is better to say nothing at all? ...yeah, this was one of those times.

You're the one that tweeted, ya dumb bimbo.

Americans are very strange. They can and do hyperventilate about the most everyday happenings as if they are the most important thing in the world

It's a good thing the UK isn't like that, eh? The most insane tabloids anywhere.

What a smug, ignorant Brit, but is there any other kind? It figures that the Obama zombies would show up to make excuses for her. Gosh, America needs to be more like Europe.

Seriously though, she does have a point but I think its understandable that we want to believe Ryan Gosling is a hero even if its less important than a whole bunch of things.

Also, favorite bit of the actual article.

Americans are very strange. They can and do hyperventilate about the most everyday happenings as if they are the most important thing in the world, and then they act completely normal when public conversations are had about war on Iran and war on women's bodies and when Rick Santorum is considered a serious presidential candidate. The real heroes I've met in America are risking everything to make sure that the United States doesn't slide further into bigotry, inequality and violence whilst everyone is distracted by the everyday doings of celebrities.

Something tells me she's the sort of woman who loudly and proudly proclaims her feminism, and then complains that she can't find a man. Although judging by her pictures, she might not be the sort who goes for men...

While I personally think the reporter is a right doofus, I don't think we need to equate opening doors and pulling out chairs (or saving people from stepping into traffic) with masculinity. I would call these actions "humanity".

But as a feminist, a writer, and a gentlewoman of fortune, I refuse to be cast in any sort of boring supporting female role, even though I have occasional trouble crossing the road, and even though I did swoon the teeniest tiniest bit when I realized it was him.

If your headway into the news is to be rescued from oncoming traffic by the only seemingly decent human being in Hollywood, then you are the supporting role, independent of your gender association and issues with ADD.

Feminism is fine, but saying thank you to someone who is irrefutably capable of throwing you back into traffic because of factually established superior upper body strength after yanking you to safety or holding a door open simply because they're being kind or thoughtful is only polite. Squawking about it because everyone doesn't love you enough to talk about how dreamy you are is just pissiness, not feminism,

I try to help anyone who is overwhelmed with packages, regardless of gender. It's when women scream at me for getting off the elevator first when there is room for two to exit at once if she wasn't so obese that I get a little stabby.

However, the real truth is that It's not so much the bad behavior of women so much is that if we do things like that with women of reproductive age and weight (obesity negatively impacts fertility) that we are trying to court (yes, for eventual sexual intercourse) we are punished instead of rewarded. The guy who acted like an aloof and inconsiderate jerk gets the prize, every time. Beyond personal survival, that is our primary motivation in life. You can scream about it being a societal construct, and while we won't say anything on the outside we're groaning on the inside. If you use that incentive in such a destructive way, life gets coarser. For older women who came of sexual age before the sexual revolution, we'll probably still be considerate. But as they die off and the baby boomers turn old, that will probably end too since we know full well who started it.

You know, I went to Liberal New England college at the height of the PC/Identity Politics Struggles, moved to NYC for grad school in a liberal female dominated field and not once was I ever chastised by Women/Womyn/Feminists/Femni-nazis for holding the door open for a woman. In fact they would say "Thanks." So my guess is you frat-boys are doing it wrong.

There are feminists who simply want to be treated equality with respect and dignity like men, and there are femiNAZIS who belittle men and think they are trash. This femiNAZI reporter, after being saved by a man, who also happens to be a handsome celebrity, naturally feels as so embarrassed and degraded. How could such a mere man, who's supposed to be trash and lives without care of others, have saved her from being killed? It defies her logic.

Gosling did the right thing. He saved the TRASH of humanity, the SEXIST, the femiNAZI. At least now people will be able to identify truly respectable women from those crazy femiNAZIS.
