CSB:

I was in Palm Springs when Adam West was getting his star on their walk of fame.
I managed to shoot this photo of him while standing on a fold-out chair

I picked up his behind-the-scenes book Back to the Batcave at a used book store a couple of years ago, and it turned out to be a really fun read. West has some pretty good stories.

Look at his posture and expression - did you fire a gun before taking that picture?

Anyway, awesome stuff. I follow Adam on FB, and I ALWAYS hear his voice as I'm reading his posts.

Less CSB: I went to Wizard World Chicago when he and Burt Ward were on a panel together. West was BEYOND drunk and told a lot of rambling incoherent stories. Burt Ward was pretty cool. DUde used to spar with Bruce Lee.

Were you dress as the Easter Bunny? Adam has a classic "what the hell is that" face going on.

In particular, KROQ's Ralph Garman was behind the crusade for the caped crusader.

"Adam West is my hero," Garman said. "When I was a kid, Adam West was a hero because of who he played. Adam's 'Batman' was everything to me. He taught me right from wrong, good versus evil, and most significantly, the importance of driving a really cool car!"

Glad they gave a shout out to Garman. He's been working on this for over a year, and he raised the money for the star. I think they cost about 50 grand.

He also had the original Batmobile at his wedding, because he's odd.

Dear Fox 64 in RI,

Please start playing The Simpsons again.

Thank you.

If Mr. West hadn't gotten a star, it would have been a Bat-astrophe.

"Citizens, I'm delighted and honored that so many of you chose to come out today for this event. And while secretly I believe that at least 3 of you are goons of the Joker, waiting for the signal to release his deadly laughing gas, take comfort in the thought that thousands of milligrams of anti-psychotic drugs are currently coursing through my veins, providing temporary proof against my deep and all consuming madness. Who's got a Batarang for me to sign?"

Good for him. Nearly every story I hear about the guy paints him as being pretty humble and super nice to fans.

He also posted a picture on the Smodcast site of his massive Batman toy and memorabilia collection. It's like an entire wing of his house.

I read something once that basically said Burt Ward's packing quite a trouser snake. They had a lot of difficulty hiding it in his Robin costume.

Yeah, Burt Ward mentioned that repeatedly in his self-published autobiography: Link (new window)

He came across as bitter for years, but I guess that's because it was hard to get work for the poor guy.

I met him in 1994 at Disney World (when he got a star or footprints at MGM Studios). One of the nicest people I ever met.

I met him at a strip mall opening near my hometown in the early 90's. He wasn't a dick, but he wasn't exactly outgoing either.

/Of course, you wouldn't be either if you were anchoring strip mall openings
//Glad his career improved

One classic role for Adam, and very "meta," was as Simon Trent AKA The Grey Ghost on Batman: TAS.

Adam West played Simon Trent, an actor who played the TV costumed vigilante/superhero who was adored by young Bruce Wayne and eventually inspired adult Bruce Wayne to become a costumed vigilante/superhero.

i met Adam West once at the world of wheels show in birmingham alabama.

I was a kid then so this must have been somewhere between 1977 and 1980. He was there dressed in the Batman tv show costume and was taking pics with a 60's TV Batmobile.

He was cool. Shook his cape at me and asked if it struck fear in my heart. I laughed and he signed my photo.

It was a great day to be alive.

Mr. West was nice enough to sign my laserdisc of the 60's movie - but he had never seen a laserdisc of the film before. Took it out of the sleeve, looked it over... I could tell he was doing the math, thinking "I never got paid for this..."

I see Lee Meriweather once in a while, she looks great.

My guess is it wasn't that loud and he shouted out Adam's name or something else like "Hey Batman" louder than intended, startling him

Perhaps now they'll stop stealing his water.
