This happens a lot with my Civil War reenactments. The trick is to shave the monkeys. Without their natural fur coating, they will soon succumb to cold, and either wander back tired and defeated, or serve as a grisly warning to the others. Also sometimes locals will mistake them for small children and return them to you.

Just make sure to shave everything but their tails. That would just be weird.

I had a pet monkey as a kid, a little spider monkey. It lived mainly in the coconut palm in our front yard. My grandad killed it one day with a slingshot, after it attacked my grandmother.
