as the shield-flinger struggles to come to grips with being transported to contemporary times.

Hopefully, it will have all the heart-pounding action of Captain America and all the gut-busting hilarity of Mannequin.

Or Mannequin 2: On the Move. I'm not picky.

You're mixing your superheroes, subby. It's the Mighty Thor. Cap's shield is indestructible.

Chris Evans. His mere presence will make up for all the movie's flaws. He almost made up for the suckage that was The Fantastic Four, but not quite.

What we need here is Michael Chiklis breaking stuff.

He doesn't *have* to be in The Thing mode.

Quasar: An American Captain in King Arthur's Court.

If that's not the subtitle of this movie, I will scowl so angrily at this movie's poster.

And my scowl can pulverize a rock at 20 paces, I'll have you know.

Amen to ALL of that.

The Shield was not only a great series, but it also had what had to have been one of the five best series finales ever made.

Absolutely brilliant.

He deserved better than the Fantastic Four movies.

A reference to the sixties Marvel/Grantray cartoon, perhaps? The theme song mentions that mighty shield in the first verse:

When Captain America throws his mighty shield,

All those who chose to oppose his shield must yield.

If he's led to a fight and a duel is due,

Then the red and white and the blue'll come through

When Captain America throws his mighty shield.

*Shudder* Yes,yes he did. I could barely stomach the first one and wisely fled when the odious sequel came calling. 1994's Street Fighter is a vertitable masterpiece by comparison.

Not being a comic fan I'm always wary of these movies. For me Thor was a terrible waste of film, but I reallly enjoyed Captain America, and am looking forward to a sequel

ZeroCorpse: What I'd like to see in a Captain America sequel:

1. Winter Soldier

Having Bucky fall off the train into a freezing Russian river did seem like an awfully convenient way to set-up the Winter Soldier storyline, so I think there is a good chance of you getting your wish.

2. The Falcon

YES PLEASE. The Ultimate Universe version would be preferable (and require less work to integrate into the story) to the 616 version. Now let's talk casting. I think Idris Elba. Because dammit, Idris Elba needs to play a superhero at some point.

3. The Serpent Society
4. Crossbones

You're likely to get one or the other, but not both. If the story features the return of the Red Skull, you'll likely get Crossbones (and Sin! Yay!), otherwise he won't appear...in which case the Serpent Society seems a good bet. I'd also like to put in a vote for an appearance by Madam Hydra/Viper.

5. Sharon Carter

I would put money on Carter being introduced as the granddaughter of Peggy Carter and being the Love Interest. I wouldn't even be shocked if they cast Hayley Atwell in the role. Just dye her hair blonde and you've got a romantic subplot that writes itself.

I didn't bother with the sequel, either.

I have a high threshold for cinematic pain, but even I didn't want to bother with that jazz... and I still don't, especially if it makes Street Fighter look THAT good.

Doesn't count. Playing a glorified doorman is a complete waste of an actor of Elba's caliber.

Not sure if serious. If you mean skinny Cap/buff Cap, I thought that was perfect. That's how CGI should be done.

I hope they give him a better costume than that ricockulous thing he's wearing in The Avengers trailer. Why can't he keep his '40s costume? Nothing wrong with that.

The first one was not great, but it met my expectations as a decent telling of the story.

3 years is too long to wait for the sequel.

Guh, the outfits Movie Cap wears are farking *terrible*. The only really good outfits Cap's ever had come from the Ultimate books. The 616 and movie outfits are ass on a platter.

Captain America was actually my favorite Marvel movie so far. I think Joe Johnston pulled off the perfect combination of pulp, retro nostalgia and unabashed patriotism for the film. Hell, I love how his version of Captain America is completely irony free (which in my opinion, is the way to stay true to the character). I also love how it's the only Marvel film to basically end on a down note.

All that being said, I'm looking forward to this movie, but I am slightly dissapointed that it's not taking place in WW2. I would have loved to see more of that and to let Johnston take another crack at it.
