You know how sometimes you have a video game you keep coming back to but you never get into it, despite the fact that you want to?

For me, that game is Shadowrun.

My dice bag still has a massive pile of D6 at the bottom from my Shadowrun days. I needed to roll about 12 or so for my adept to sneak.

not anymore. 4th edition rules modify your target number(s), not the number of dice you roll. so if you've got a task that takes...12 successes. But you've got modifiers that reduce that down to 4 successes then you're not rolling every die on the table anymore. you're rolling what's in your dice pool, which is probably around 6-7 dice.

Part of my childhood died with FASA and I didn't follow the properties after that.

Yes, that Drew Curtis

My group played Shadowrun briefly, it wasn't bad but had a "junk pizza" feel to it.

SR4 is Shadowrun in name only.

GreenAdder: SR4 is Shadowrun in name only.

SR4A fixes most of the mechanical problems at least.

Too bad the wireless matrix got GiTS in my Neuromancer of the Rings.

I'll probably throw some cash at this, if only in hopes that it resembles real SR not post Crash 2.0 SR.

I'm alright with this. Make for that abortion of a FPS online I played. I couldn't get that back to Gamefly fast enough.

I'll donate, but only on one condition, You bring back the and modernize the Cyberhacking part from the Genesis/SNES version.

Man, I spent hours stealing files.

Never did like the "punk" aspect of cyberpunk. It's one of the big reasons I couldn't finish Snow Crash. Give me a chance to be pro-corporate, and I'm in.

DeadLands MMO, I forget the company who was working on it, ran out of money. I think the rights are now tied up for another year or two.

Meh, there are lots of Car Wars style combat games out there, although I don't know if there are any with RPG elements and a story line as opposed to just shoot em up's in an arena.

I...I think this calls for getting drunk. Deadlands had a great premise and was fairly straightforward for skill usages and bonuses for doing risky stuff.

Ugh. MMOs just aren't scary. Deadlands has too much atmosphere to do well as an MMO. Be nice if someone gave it a proper RPG treatment, though. A Baldur's Gate style Deadlands game would be... nnnnhrhhawawawa. I'm gonna need fresh pants.

I still remember my group pissing off our GM by easily passing one of his traps that was supposed to take an entire session to do. Next game ended with him rolling practically every die that he had while cackling about the, "combined might of the Empire".

Definitely going to contribute to this. Hope they have razorgirls.

I loved it so much, I snagged it for $3 at Hollywood Video back around '95/'96. Damned thing wouldn't save. Shoddy soldering to the battery tabs. Put in a new battery a few years ago and it's as good as new. SNES one's fine for something different, but too many liberties.

I never got to play the P&P. Everyone that played lived 45 minutes away, they were mostly D&D types, and I wasn't old enough to drive yet. Friend gave me his 1st Edition rulebook, and I still dig it out and look through it. Jesus, I've been looking at it for 20 years?

I would certainly enjoy that. I just started running a Deadlands game for my Monday night gaming group.

2012-04-05 04:29:32 PM
My group experimented with it once. I'm not sure we did it right. When someone fired off a machine gun they had to roll for each farkin' bullet. We spent four hours arguing over how many times we had to roll dice, rolling dice, and adding up rolled dice.

2012-04-05 04:30:22 PM
Forgot to add...

I know we're beyond the tech in a lot of ways (in regards to the older revisions of SR), but I'd love it if they stayed wired. Jacks and plugs and exposed cybernetics...that was part of the allure.

2012-04-05 04:31:28 PM
On a side note. Dennis Detwiller is considering doing a Delta Green game. Just something he is working the details out on, but maybe a Kickstarter project in the next year or so.

I loved that setting and thought they had some really creative stuff with the "magic", but the system just annoyed the hell out of me. The mixing dice thing is just unnatural.
