that's awsome

2001-11-12 03:12:02 PM
throw the farking book at the guy

2001-11-12 03:14:06 PM
i could be wrong......but he may have a problem with alcohol

2001-11-12 03:14:08 PM
sadly 'the farking book' only amounts to 5 years in jail

2001-11-12 03:14:21 PM
It was Drew Carrey.

2001-11-12 03:15:52 PM
How could they be "getting tougher on drinking and driving" but only give him 5 years? Fark it, if you ask me he should get 30 years.

2001-11-12 03:16:27 PM
jeez occifer, I haven't drank anything really. The other 18 times were a fluke...

Throw this guy in jail, I think we see a pattern here, duh. Make him live by the bar so he doesn't have to drive, didn't they do that with one guy?

2001-11-12 03:18:03 PM
give him a sex change and buy him a one way ticket to afghanistan... That seems fair to me. I bet they love woman that get drunk and crash cars over there.

2001-11-12 03:23:14 PM
"Curtis Sears, of Dayton, says that he simply can't do without his beer. "

He obviously can't do without his car keys either. You'd think someone would take them away from this guy.

2001-11-12 03:24:02 PM
daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn
Why do they let him own a car?

2001-11-12 03:26:19 PM
No jail. Lock him in rehab. He'll go to prison and replace his alcohol vice with something worse, probably.

2001-11-12 03:29:09 PM
Put him in the hole and lets move on.

2001-11-12 03:29:16 PM
I'm thinking maybe, just maybe, this guy is a lost cause. Throw him in jail and let him stay. In his own words, he can't do without his beer, which apparently includes time spent driving.

2001-11-12 03:31:51 PM
...and a teacher is fired for letting Woody talk about Hemp. Drivers licence should be revoked for life. Prison term will give him time to think about it.

2001-11-12 03:31:52 PM
From a longer article on one of our local Dayton news websites:

''He has a bad habit. He has to drive when he's drinking,'' said Sears' wife, Mary. ''He makes extra copies of the car keys because he knows I'll take the keys away from him. And when I go to work, he drives.''

Moron.

Here's a link to the whole article on the Dayton Daily News website.

They won't do anything until he actually kills someone. Until then it's all about the "rights of the accused." I wonder if he pays for his own lawyer (no).

2001-11-12 03:32:46 PM
Just to stir the pot a little, I thought I might point out that this guy will probably get less jail time than someone arrested for their first marijuana possession offense.

Please oh please oh please someone call me a tree-hugging hippy liberal!

2001-11-12 03:35:31 PM
Bigtuna: You tree-hugging hippy liberal!

2001-11-12 03:37:52 PM
I am not sure, but I think there is a old guy in VT that had over 30 DWI arrests. I think he was a Native American, and had a learning disability, so the courts were all too nice too him.

BigTuna How true.

Not to say that this guy isn't a dumbass, and is about to get his ass raped (as is the usual punishment for crime in america) for a few years, i wonder how many of those DUIs were at or around .08 (two beers)

2001-11-12 03:41:58 PM
If they take away his liscense and car how will he get to his AA meetings? Come on people, think of the bigger picture, he really just needs someone to love him. ;)

If he was driving badly enough to be pulled over (19 times)then he was probably too drunk to drive, his BAC aside. ALso those are the only 19 he's been caught and convicted of, how many times did they throw out charges or not even catch him?

2001-11-12 03:45:16 PM
43% Assuming you are right.... if this clown can't handle two beers and drive a car in a manner as to not have the cops pull him over, he deserves to be Clems prom date at the Grey Bar Motel.

K-tree True, but it is reeeaaally easy to get a DUI at .08 .

2001-11-12 03:55:37 PM
We should treal all substance abuse problems (alchohol, Cocaine..whatever) as a health problem and not a criminal problem. This guy should be sent to a rehab for six months to a year, not allowed to own a vehicle when he gets out and have his presence monitored when he gets out.

Locking him up for five years will just make him a hard core criminal and with his addictive personality probably get him hooked on drugs in prison.

2001-11-12 03:57:32 PM
That is the most pathetic thing I've ever heard. If I were ruler of the world, drunk driving would be a one-time offense. If you get caught with any alcohol, not just .10 or whatever the legal limit is where you are, in your system while driving, you lose your license, permanently. If you're caught driving drunk again, without a license, life in jail. That's the one thing I can't stand. I don't care how much a person drinks, I could care less. Let minors drink for all I care. But when you get behind the wheel of a couple tons of steel you are a lethal weapon, and that is insane.

this is entrapment!
the poor guy works at a wine tasting facility. The police just wait for him to get off work everyday.

2001-11-12 03:58:57 PM
It seems that this guy has a problem with a car. If he was sitting at home with a BAL of .25 there would be no problem. The guy just seems to feel the need to drive when he's tanked. It might be time to take away his license.

2001-11-12 03:59:38 PM
I have a better idea...

1st offense = kill them on the spot. our jails are already overcrowded.

2001-11-12 04:09:53 PM
I think on the 20th offense he gets a free keg of Molson Ice.

2001-11-12 04:11:54 PM
Obviously this guy would still drive if his license and car were taken away from him. I agree with Feral-kiwi. I've already had a friend killed because of a drunk driver, and that's one too many.

2001-11-12 04:13:20 PM
How does this guy get car insurance? And how expensive is it?

What a bonehead!

2001-11-12 04:17:21 PM
You'd think that on, oh, the 10th offense they woulda said to themselves, "Hey... this guy isn't a very good judge of when he can drive!" And on that 15th offense, maybe "hey! We shoulda listened to that last guy who said the thing on the 10th time!" But now they're on the 18th time, and that guy from the tenth is just sitting there smiling, smug in the knowledge that he said that thing before and nobody listened.

2001-11-12 04:17:37 PM
if this guy is an alcoholic, he needs more than two beers to get to .08, even if he's an oompaloompa.

2001-11-12 04:27:50 PM
w/ a 20+ year drinking habit, a wife who doesn't approve, and residence in Ohio, this guy is a regular somewhere. Maybe the cops could find out where and pay the owner a visit

2001-11-12 04:31:31 PM
Officer:"Do you know you're driving on the wrong side of the road?'
Curtis:"Yeah, well, the other side's full!"
Officer:"You're half-drunk!"
Curtis:"Yeah, I know, I run out of money."

2001-11-12 04:33:50 PM
I think that we should take away the parking lots to bars, with no parking lots, there is no reason to drive to a bar. Now i know in the city this would not work so well, but how many times do you drive to a bar in the city. by the time you get done parking you really don't want to do anything else but go home.

Remember, what I said is if I were ruler of the world. If I were ruler of the world, I don't care how many jails we would have to build. Build, build, build. Put all the jackasses away, forever. Actually, a better idea would be, again, assuming I was ruler, is to follow Britain's old great idea and just dump all the assholes off on Madagascar or something where they can just learn how to farm and leave the rest of society alone. Then again, Madagascar is home to many unique species of animals....but, yeah. Then again, if I was ruler, I'd be to preoccupied with sleeping in hammocks with beautiful naked women around me doing all the nicest things they can think of.

19th. This is stupid, he shouldnt be allowed to drive after his first time getting caught, but he will just get a pat on the back again, thats what is wrong with our nation now, if we didnt have all these farking idiots running around screaming unfair punishiment, we could actually do something to the criminals, look at how many people get killed by drunk driving, it is farking ridicalous (sp?), and it could be stopped.

This guy's drunk driving record goes back over 22 years. I'm asuming there has been no fatalities...yet. This man obviously cannot control his behavior and it is unlikely that he will change. When he finally does cause a fatal wreck due to his recklessness I feel the the blame is as much his as those who didn't get him off the streets to begin with. Apparently the only thing that is going to keep this guy off the road permanently is liver failure.

I used to work with a guy a long time ago who used to drive the water truck. It was used to settle the dust on the roads we were making at the time. He was a full-blown alcoholic who had a steady job, settled home-life, etc. (In fact, I've known quite a few.) He used to drive that water truck 6 days a week and he had to be over the alcohol limit every day. But he would only drive that truck at about 30mph, he mostly did 10mph when he was watering the roads; in fact, we couldn't get him to go any faster even when the occasion called for it. One day, the cops got him at 6 o'clock in the morning, when a car hit his stationary truck at the side of the road, in a dark portion of road. He blew .41!!!! Supposedly a world record at the time...and probably any time. He's still alive and well. They took his license away from him and banned him indefinitely...his son took over driving the water truck and he went to work with him every day just to keep him company...I don't think he ever drove again. He's still drinking...steadily.

''They try to keep me caged up like an animal,'' he said. ''I've got a problem with alcohol and locking me up won't cure that problem. If they want to help me, they need to help find out the reason why I keep going back to drinking all the time.'' Myabe you're a farking alcoholic and a shiathead?
So this asshole is blaming everyone except himself. He's already lost his license for life and still does it. How about just tossing him in jail for the rest of his life?

I saw some figures once that are kind of spooky. There are about 20,000,000 wrecks of some kind every year in the US. About 45,000 +/- die each year in these wrecks. Half of all these are caused by drinking drivers. What scares me is that there are so many drinking drivers. What really terrifies me is the OTHER 50% of wrecks and deaths are caused by SOBER drivers doing something just as stupid as one who's drunk.

2 quick stories...

When I was in college (Go Boilermakers!), there was a report of the cops arresting a guy they found half passed out in a field who blew something in the high .4's. That was a Tippecanioe County record at the time.

Another one of my friends had a run in with the law and had to serve on the Tippecanoe County Road Crew. Everyone asked what they did to get put there and how much time they had left, etc. One guy had another 36 months of Road Crew (to be served every day) because he picked up his 37th Public Intox in the last 5 years.

Jeez. I'm glad these clowns weren't driving at the time!

Some jackass ran a red light in a company truck and hit my mom. He then lied to the insurance people and said he had a yellow light so they had to call the witness (one of two people stopped at the light which had been red for a long time) and he didn't even get in trouble, let alone lose his job or get his liscense suspended, even though he proved 1)he doesn't pay attention when he drives 2) he's a lying farkface and 3) I don't have a 3 I just hate the guy. But anyway, even though he wasn't drunk, should he still be driving? Why isn't something like this considered reckless endangerment, when driving drunk can get you jail time and a suspended liscense even though no one got hurt? (I am in no way condoning drunk driving, I think people should be punished for it way more than they are) But this guy was sober! If vehicle deaths are ever going to go down, it's people like this they need to ban from driving, as well as drunk drivers.

college people are insane. when I was in school in CO, I got in trouble for walking to my dorm ON CAMPUS drunk (instead of riding with my drunken friends I chose to walk the 2 blocks). What's funny is the campus police would give people warnings for drunk driving all the time. I got in trouble and had to have a damn hearing. is that some shiat or what?

I have an uncle in Michigan whose license is permanently revoked because he likes his booze a little too much. He's a nice guy and everything, but I'm glad he no longer has his license--he could kill himself or someone else.

They're farking stupid in Ohio. Give the guy an ultimatum--car keys OR beer. I say throw his butt in jail for at least 20 years. And make him go to rehab.
