Hoping, praying, and sending positive thoughts to your family.

2012-04-04 10:23:30 PM
I've never had kids, and of course my contracts specifically state that I am not to be subjected to children or animals at any time, but I suspect (and sincerely hope) that this is a far-from-sinister situation.
I know that I I took off a few times at sixteen. And seventeen. And I turned out okay. Sort of. Well, I look normal, anyway. And that's something.

2012-04-04 10:24:06 PM
No witty comment or anything, just hope you guys find her safe. Good luck to you and your family.

CaptArmond: No news yet.
I've contacted some of her biological family to see if they've heard from her. So far not so much.
This is our first foster child, we became fosters specifically for her. We're not taking it personally, she has her issues as we know. I just would sleep a lot better if I knew she was safe as opposed to having to hope she's safe.
She has run before on a few occassions (I once had to pick her up in Ohio after a 2 week disappearance).
Thanks for the positive vibes from the fark community.
/Wife also says thanks.

Good luck, I hope you find her safe

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I am NOT getting sucked into this.
I am NOT getting sucked into this.
I am NOT getting sucked into this.

Trust issues. sigh.
All you can do is welcome her back when she gets back and tell her once again that at WORSE, could she please let you know when she wonders off.
Better to know where and why that she has run, rather than just have no clue.

/I tell my niece/nephews that they get infinite get-out-jail-free cards from me. no matter what, they just need to call me. I wont judge. Never. I certainly wont tell their parents. LOL. best you can ever do is give them safe harbor.

Well, if she tries to sneak into Canada from here I'll give her a stern talking to. She looks enough like one of my half-sisters to freak me out a lot.

Hopefully all will turn out well. Keep at it, she will do well with the love and support that you're obviously willing to give.

When Starr did not come home by 9:30, and the friend she was with did not know where she was, her family reported her missing, police said.

things get really farked up when the FRIEND knows, but lies to protect her .... LOL

I'm OK with this. Later, sure, but NOT now. Jeez! What are ya, twelve???

I dont recall saying NOW. Dont assume or read into what I said more than what I said: Anyone trolling needs a major boot to the head.

I just want subby's life to get back to normal - then we can all get back to arguing and being assholes to one another.

Actually thats good news. It doesn't keep you from worrying I understand but knowing that she has run before makes it far more likely that she left on her own power and if she has lasted as long as 2 weeks on her own before then she is pretty resourceful. I know it ain't much to hang onto right now but any port in a storm.

I wasn't here Sunday for the thread, now I'm wondering what I missed.

It was a missing child thread, much like this one, but once the child had been found and was home safely the thread started getting even more trolltastic. It was suggested to that submitter that the thread be pulled and he agreed.

Girls that age frequently stomp off for time away. She will come home soon, hopefully without tatoos or a pregnancy.

My greatest fear in this world is that I am unable to adequately protect my kids, that they are gone and I can't find them.

From the bottom of my heart, I hope you find her soon, and she's healthy and safe.

Does she carry a cell phone? If so, contact the wireless company with a police report and they will be able to trace her calls and even her phone's location if it is on (or its last location)

/works in wireless

As a father of 3 (all boys) I can't stand hearing about this, especially if there is any connection (even if it is just a shared message board). You know it exists and is real, but this makes it hit a little harder. Living in a major city this is always in the back of my mind. It is a pain of parenthood.

My thoughts are with you subby. Is this town anywhere near Pittsburgh? I have a lot of family there that I can share this link with if it is close.

2012-04-04 10:36:57 PM
I've got no children, so I can't even imagine how this feels. I just hope she needed space for awhile and will come back soon (or at least call and let you know she's ok.) Keep us updated!

2012-04-04 10:37:18 PM
CaptArmond, can't won't don't wanna imagine what you must be going thru (Parent2)
If she turns up on the Left Coast we'll send her home
Hang in there, have a (small) drink, for nerves
Hang in there

Much closer to Harrisburg. The Army War College is in Carlisle.

Warthog: logistic: Except that anyone who uses this site knows what it is.

Yup. It's a news aggregator. And in this case it's a channel for a story to be filtered up to an audience larger than any other audience this father was going to get. In the hopes that his kid turns up.

It wasn't submitted to mock a high school teacher on meth who made poor life choices.
It wasn't submitted to equate Michele Dugger's vagina to a clown car. Because she went on the Today Show. Again.
It wasn't submitted to debate whether Farbongo can kick the Alaskan Grizzlymom's hick ass in the 2012 election.

it was submitted in the hopes that this kid turns up -- no more, no less. So spare me your "all troll, all the time, any thread, anywhere, for the lulz" mentality, as this isn't 4chan and won't ever be 4chan. If you'd walk up to this guy and say the same thing to his face, in real life, well then aren't you just the most confident basement dweller around. But if this is just the Internet Farkwad theory in action, again, your white knighting the trolls is misplaced.

And if it isn't greenlit, perhaps some modmin may want to out the submitter, because some may want to sponsor him so at least TFers could follow up with him.

Anyway, good luck, anonymous guy who will probably never read this--hope she's OK.

This. But also...

16 years old and she has a curfew of 8:30pm and the cops were called shortly after 9:30? WTF?

And "We're her foster family and she's only been with us for a little over a week."

Hope everything's okay, but that combination raises my hackles.

Ogre, I've always loved you and you know that but wtf with the link in your profile? It takes me nowhere, then when I get frustrated and hammer on it it takes me here..http://www-users.cs.umn.edu/~echi/ I'm so confused, I remember you as a skinny white guy sitting on a harley, have you changed?

I will keep my eyes open at work tomorrow (not likely i work in NY, but given my line of work it would be possible if she gets as far as NYC then decides to keep going to the capital area)

Well let's hope the little girl actually just ran away or just doing some stupid teen stuff. That's the best we could hope because....

"She was wearing white shorts with a hole in the right leg, a black tank top, and black sneakers."

Although the type of clothing does not legalize the abuse of someone, you never know how crazy "deprived" men might act upon the sight of a young attractive lady.

Does she have a smart phone? Sprint has that track your kids app. Latitude can help locate someone.

Been through this with one daughter. She was a handful. I would start calling parents of friends if you have their numbers. Our daughter ran away to a friends, and made up a story so the Mom didn't have a clue she was missing. Once two and two were put together the police were dropping her off at the house. She ran away to another friends later and not only did the Mom know she gave them both alcohol. I was one pissed off Dad.

Good luck and keep us all posted.

It means "Date of Death" I'm assuming. And it's gets 82,000 hits on google, so I'm assuming it's either rare or regional.

2012-04-04 11:23:27 PM
Ok I get it, I'm sorry, I just didn't understand the term. Why can't people just say died? I've buried a child and a spouse so I'm not being mean. I really didn't know what you meant there; I hadn't heard that term before. It's like saying someone is late.

2012-04-04 11:24:06 PM
Hang in capn. Not much to do from western pa, but wish well.

Also, as understanding as you Other farkers are, maybe here is not the best place to turn this into a grieving dead children thread. You know...
