I bet Game of Thrones is pretty good if you haven't read the books.

Man Men is severely lacking in the "dwarves f*cking whores" category.

How was employee night at Medieval Times?

Great! I watched some midget slap the living piss out of some snot-nosed brat.

Remember, it's a zero sum game, people. You can't possibly enjoy two different shows from two different networks about two completely different subject that are shown at different times.

Varys would have made a great ad exec though.

Tough call. The super cool retro soap opera versus the high-camp boobs and blood orgy.

Who cares? They're both well made and feature some really good actors.

Is that Dinklage's real accent or just a terrible one he made up?

Dinklage is American, so the latter.

He wears it well, though.

Hotter chicks on GoT. Not to mention that the women are far more interesting characters on GoT.

He's giving Teddy KGB a run for his money.

I would add that Alex Moaba would be perfect for playing a woman on MadMen, if GoT is too complicated for him to follow.

Okay. I like both shows. But the writer of this article is a f*cking tard.

I've never seen Game of Thrones, but the last 3 episodes of Mad Men (season 4 finale and the first two of season 5) I think are 3 of the worst episodes in the show's entire run.

They better come up with something quick. Mad Men is starting to have the feel of a collapse of Dexter-esque proportions, where all the characters and the storyline cease being interesting virtually overnight.

sigdiamond2000: collapse of Dexter-esque proportions

hahahahaha.

We really need a term like Jumping the Shark to describe the mess Dexter became.

I'm not sure how this is a troll - they are both amazing shows.

2012-04-04 04:06:34 PM
I couldn't stomach more than the first episode of Mad Men before being bored and moving on. I started Game of Thrones yesterday and I'm watching S01E08 right now.

Then again, I also saw the long extended teaser for Game of Thrones (first 25 minutes or so) and was bored and just decided not to watch it in the first place.

So I might give Mad Men another chance at some point.

Still, I doubt Mad Men features as many beheadings.

Also I want that little inbred king to be stabbed in the face repeatedly. I only saw him for like 10 minutes of screentime combined so far, but I can't stand the little shiat. Also shame the King died, he was awesome.

2012-04-04 04:08:00 PM
I read the entire series of GOT between the first and second season and when I watched the first episode of this weekend I realized that I do not want to go through all that shiat again.

There are more boobs in Game of Thrones. It wins.

2012-04-04 04:20:04 PM
Haven't seen Mad Men, but this is like comparing Colombian coffee to Earl Grey tea - different strokes and all that.

Tatsuma: and I'm watching S01E08 right now.

Oh... wait for S01E09.

Have you read the books?

Neither of them are Breaking Bad so why does it matter?

2012-04-04 04:33:28 PM
Don't blame me.

I came here to say how Breaking Bad whoops the utter and complete stuffin' out of both of them.

2012-04-04 04:34:41 PM
The second episode of this season of GoT is much better than than the first episode. I don't agree with what they're doing with Mellisandre, but hey, whatever.

Evil Kirk vs Bad Ash: Neither of them are Breaking Bad so why does it matter?

Breaking Bad is what you watch while Mad Men is on break. The acting is great, the plots are absurd, and it doesn't require you to pay much attention.

Precisely. Discussion is OVAH!

I'd also wager that Armond White is behind this somehow.

But.....but.... We like them both.

One is a show about conniving, backstabbing, craven, avaricious, amoral, and ambitious people trying to grab all the sex, power, and riches they can have with any means at their disposal, and the other show has bare boobs and dragons in it.

What?!? Throwing Betty into a fat suit didn't save the show for you? Unpossible!!

I agree with you though - nearly 2 years between last season and this season and this is the best they can come up with? Really?

Mad Men is better than Game of Thrones.

Also, Monkeys are better than Peanut Butter.

Makes just as much sense.

The most recent Mad Men S05E03 was Jon Hamm's directorial debut. Season 3 and 4 booth took 4-5 episodes to get into the swing of things. WTC construction started in this seasons current year it will be interesting to see if they cover that and the space race.

Read the first 4 or 5 chapters of Game of Thrones before tossing it. I had to keep a note book to keep all the names straight. Way too many characters introduced from the get-go. Watched the first episode and hated it even more. Just not a fantasy fan, I guess.

Never watched Man Men. To be totally honest, I don't even know what it's about. My allegiance lies with Breaking Bad. I don't know where I stand on Walking Dead. I hate all of the actors and their feeble over acting. Hoping the prison amps things up for season 4.

2012-04-04 04:49:56 PM
"Mad Men" is a self-contained, focused human drama that analyzes the complicated lives of a relatively small circle of characters, not dozens of armies dueling over seven kingdoms. "Game of Thrones" is ambitious in its scale... with its gigantic web of characters and clans

Translation: I like the former style better than the latter, so don't listen to me because GoT is not my taste.

Another area "Game of Thrones" gets a lot of credit for is its sex scenes, but more often than not, they tend to just weird me out. Either brother and sister Lannister are doing it, or Drogo is manhandling Daenerys Targaryen on their honeymoon, or Dothraki warriors are raping and pillaging. It might as well be called Game of Unsettling HBO Sex.

Welcome to sex in history.

Nice.

Now, is the kid naturally an abrasive little snot-nosed shat, or just a good actor?

It's troubling when a bit-part character on Justified or Breaking Bad elicits more sympathy and concern than THE ENTIRE CAST OF THE WALKING DEAD COMBINED

...

Excluding Glenn, Daryl, and Herschel, naturally.

Tatsuma: Agreed

Which is to say nothing of Justified.
