@Pres_Bartlet said it best. "Here's two politicians who don't understand what twitter is arguing about twitter"

What I've learned from this exchange is that following someone on Twitter is akin to sitting in a car outside their house with a pair of binoculars, and then following their kid to school.

2012-04-04 03:37:55 PM
They obviously know a thing or two about being twits

2012-04-04 03:41:20 PM
Bruning, however, continued with his best Chris Hansen impression: "Well, she's 14, Don."

THEN WHY IS SHE ON TWITTER?

Does he realize that everyone on the internet is going to try and friend her now? Do these guys even grasp this thing called the Internet?

Luckily, this only happened in Nebraska and this kind of internet-ignorance would never spill over to the federal level. Right?

To be fair, the Internet in Nebraska is a network of cans and strings.

Um, why wouldn't your campaign follow the public comments of your opponent's family members? I mean, publishing them would be creepy and uncalled for, but I would think being aware of them would be basic due diligence for campaign staff.

Oh well, the story is pretty golden, even without the video.

This would have been the smart point for the opponent to make. Being Nebraska and a Republican primary, he could have family values-ed the shiat out of his opponent who lets his innocent, young daughter consort with all of the child predators and sinners on the Internets, and also the Googles.

Walker: And Dan goes under the bus!

I didn't get that impression from the story, he probably got chewed out, but he was able to propose a valid defense, I think Dan's safe as long as this is a one-time thing.

Yeah, that's my takeaway as well. If you don't want strangers to know what your daughter is doing, then maybe she shouldn't be announcing her activities to the entire farking internet.

But really - no one has a decent reason to tweet in the first place.

2012-04-04 04:41:32 PM
I have a sneaking suspicion that this Bruning character is making this whole thing up. And if he made this up just for some dirt to fling at his opponent he is truly a dumb ass because now the whole world has been alerted to his daughter's twitter account. He is going to be in for an interesting next few months.

Well, what do you expect? The butthurt senator is letting his teenage, female, tweeting daughter drive the thing. It's damn lucky she only ran over one person.

I've been told that Twitter is great because it topples oppressive regimes in the Middle East, but all I see it used for in the US is for celebrities to say dumb shiat and dumb political fights.

Maybe they have a different Twitter over there.

This is a new spin on the "I don't think he farks pigs, but I want to hear him deny it" filthy tactic. What the fark is your 14 year old daughter doing with a Twitter account? Don't you know dirty old men can follow her and try to seduce her? What kind of farking irresponsible father allows his barely teenage daughter use Twitter?

This guy is just begging for a visit from CPS

And he wants to represent you, folks!Think about that for a moment!

Sure. One is for people who think other people want to hear what they have to say but they don't particularly care about a response, and the other they want a response. Adds validation.

Twitter has really grown on me. It's not a place to go for deep thoughts, but for quick witty bon mots from celebrities and to judge the zeitgeist, it's great.
