Gamers united to vote for EA because they are pissed at them. A link to the poll was put in gaming forums all over the internet. There aren't many internet forums for homeless people thrown out of their homes illegally by BoA who used robo-signers to foreclose on them. Gamers know how to cheat and work the system, homeless people know how to shake a can for spare change. Enough said.

That's true and all but still, these people clearly don't have a clue what BoA have done. Or they're supremely stupid and don't care. Either way it's very disappointing.

FTA: Traditionally, the Poo has been delivered on its little red pillow. But this year, we'll give EA three different color options for its pillow, though in the end it's still the same old Poo.

This made me lol.

I hate to defend schlock like Consumer Reports, but Countrywide and AIG both already "won" this contest in previous years. BofA deserves it, but it would be a little redundant.

There have even been numerous accusations that EA and its ilk deliberately hold back game content with the sole intent of charging a fee for it at a later date.

This is a solid business strategy. Not saying I like it, but what the hell, man? You don't need the extra content, it's extra.

Cripes, Bethesda ripped entire characters, quest lines and locations out of the final build of New Vegas so they would have more DLC to sell later.

It's always amazing to me how the Consumerist readers can't understand a simple maxim:

"If you don't like a way a company does business, don't give them money."

Don't want to show your receipt at Best Buy or Wal-Mart? Don't shop there. Don't want to pay fees to a bank? Go sign up at a credit union instead. Don't want to feel ripped off by a game publisher? Find something else to play or to do with your free time.

Instead, the Consumerist readers and writers whine about their sense of entitlement at wanting to have things their way and at the same time refusing not to go without those things if they can't have them their way. If only there was some ridiculous cliche about cake to describe their behavior...

FWIW, I heard one of the editors from Consumer Reports speaking, and I asked him during the Q&A why they bought this biatch-blog from Gawker in the first place. He admitted that it had been an attempt to reach out to younger consumers, and that it was an experiment that hadn't gone well. The thing that annoys me is that Consumers Union is a reputable organization, while Consumerist has some of the most misinformed, worst yellow-press, stunningly vindictive tendencies of any consumer publication out there.

Part of it is the implicit contract, and the slight difference.

I pay you (or in this case EA) $60, and in turn you(EA/Bioware) provide me a complete game, with beginning, middle and end.

If you want to cut stuff out of the middle (especially if it's not completed by the ship date) while still providing a coherent narrative, have fun. Even with the Javik DLC for ME3 (aka Mr. Loredump), or the heavily implied "Retake Omega" DLC, they still provided a coherent narrative if you didn't get it (barring the last 5 minutes).

But in this case, they cut the ending (or completely farked it up, and I'm not certain which is worse), and are then going to make us pay for it. That's bullshiat.

See, this is why I voted for Bank of America. I didn't have a choice, they bought my mortgage. Then they screwed it up, and wasted a huge chunk of my time and sanity. It took awhile before I could afford to move my mortgage, but I did as soon as I could. I thought I was done with them, but NO when I went to refinance again a couple years latter to take advantage of falling interest rates, I found they had never taken their lean off our mortgage. Something they have to do in my state. I'm surprised they didn't try to foreclose on the loan because I wasn't making payments on it. You know, the one I had paid off.

Bank of America did this kind of crap to tens of thousands of homeowners that never decided to, or wanted to do business with them.

They don't screw everyone every time. However, if you keep doing business with them, they will eventually screw you and make your life a living hell.

So It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.

The first notice I got from BOA was that I was in default for failing to provide proof of insurance. The date by which I need to provide this proof was before the post mark date on the letter. The next day I got their welcome to BOA! we bought your mortgage! letter. It got worse from there.

With the amount of media attention and play this gets every year it would have been nice if a company that helped contribute to a global economic recession had won instead of a company that made a crappy ending to a video game.

To those who might sneer at something as "non-essential" as a video game company winning the Worst Company In America vote: It's that exact kind of attitude that allows people to ignore the complaints as companies like EA to nickel and dime consumers to death.

You know your time has come when you acknowledge your own irrelevance and attempt to justify continued existence with this kind of tenuous logic.

yeah I was at a job site the other week over hearing a couple of guys having a heated debate about how the walking dead isnt portraying zombies like they should or following some contrived history.

I was like WOW.. its a TV show, and one I enjoy, but its still just a fictional TV show

By the way, why isn't this also in the Geek tab? I have a feeling most of the geek fanboys who would like to weigh in on things like "video game ending vs. global recession" and "DLC on disc vs. throttling data" are lurking there.

Seriously, EA vs. Sony. Ok. I get it.
EA vs. Best Buy. I get that even more.

But EA vs COMCAST and then BoA.

That's some seriously asinine decision making there.

I'll never forgive EA for ruining the Command & Conquer series after buying-out Westwood Studios. Then they bought out Maxis, released Sim City 4 riddled with bugs, and never released a good patch. Then they go and ruin the Mass Effect final ending. What's next?

We've made too many compromises already; too many retreats. They invade our space and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further! And *I* will make them pay for what they've done.

Agreed. Bioware had a choice they could have artistic integrity or millions of dollars. I would have likely done the same thing.

This is no different from an otherwise mediocre NFL team getting hot and winning the Superbowl. EA managed to generate a huge tidal wave of bad publicity right as the poll was going on. ME 3 comes out 3 months later or 3 months earlier and they don't win, it's as simple as that.

Notice BP is still a giant bunch of douchbags but they didn't even get on this list this year as they having blown up any oil rigs RECENTLY.

Electronic Arts said it will buy VG Holding from private equity firm Elevation Partners for $620 million in cash, while issuing $155 million in EA stock to certain VG employees. In addition, EA will lend VG Holding $35 million "through the closing of the acquisition," the company said in a statement.

VG Holdings was 800 people at the time. (wikipedia)

Waiting for the DLC ending to Mass Effect 3 before I finish, so I still haven't figured out what everyone is P.O.d about. Sadly, I started playing the online multiplayer part of the game, something I would have never done if not for the ending snafu. I actually found myself really enjoying the multiplayer. I so rarely go back to the main story that I often forget what's going on in the game.

I guess making the majority of customers horribly upset has done some good in my case.

The multiplayer was actually a done quite well, for the most part. I lost track of how much time I've spent in it, but I've played most of the human classes(not vanguard), and unlocked a couple other classes as well. Right now I'm rocking an engineer build with mostly just a shotgun, but I have a pistol for when I run out of shotgun ammo. Using overload to score easy headshots on mooks is great.

The only problem I have with ME3 is that the last 10 minutes or so of the game is completely disconnected from the rest of the series.

Nerd rage is the ONLY thing that managed to take EA as far as it did. If ME3 came out this week, BoA would have won this, hands down.
