It's never an attractive person who does this.

Wonder why.

Attractive people tend to have good lives and don't go out of their way to fark that up?

OK I admit that was kind of funny.

What a ridiculous law. It's just a body.

Most public indecency laws are written in such a way that some sort of lewd conduct has to accompany the nudity. Hopefully he can fight it.

Welcome to puritan America.

Several people reported seeing the man wandering Broad Ripple without clothing.

I'll bet he has more than a few broad ripples.

FTA: "Fine, in that case you are not going to jail for public indecency," the officer told Fodera, according to the report.

Officers arrested Fodera on a preliminary charge of public indecency.

Isn't "Opposite Day" from one of John Water's creepier movies like Desperate Living or something like that?

Some cops are just so darn witty, I can appreciate that.
/there was a story a few months ago, where some lady had her leg up on a subway seat, and that's against the law, the cop went to give her a ticket, and she said, 'don't you have bigger fish to fry?' cop: 'when i'm done frying this one.'
//zing!

With all the stories going around about corrupt/abusive police, it's nice to see that some cops still have a sense of humor.

I don't know if indecency laws are necessarily "Puritan." A dude walking around outside in public naked ... may have mental or other judgment problems, maybe not a danger to those around him, but possibly a danger to himself.

I don't know how serious public indecency charges are in his area, but it may not even be worth fighting. Anyway, I don't have a problem with the cops picking him up.

If it was opposite day, shouldn't he be wearing women's clothing instead? Being nude is like atheism.. it's a lack of something rather than the opposite of it.

It's typically only the mentally unstable who walk around naked because they are the ones least able to conform to societal norms. It's not a symptom of mental instability in and of itself. For that reason, checking on him isn't out of line, but being able to arrest someone because they don't cover their body with cloth is a bit absurd.

Quite a few places around the country are slowly coming to the realization that the top half of people isn't inherently evil and allow women as well as men to be topless in public. Maybe in another 50 years we will advance enough as a society to allow people to be in their natural state.

Sure, why not. You evidently still reside in 3rd grade where girls have cooties and body parts are yuckie.

I do not think it is possible to have an "opposite day". If you did, then it would be a normal day since the opposite of opposite is normal.

I didn't intend to bring up atheism/religion, but I couldn't think of another good analogy. I guess I could've said that the opposite of red hair isn't bald.. it's.. uh, green hair?

Someone help me out here - the comics page (woefully left at home) has been running a strip about "Opposite Day" and I can't remember the name of the strip (nor could I paste a copy here, being an old lady without knowledge of those tools). Anyone?

Yes, because using something as an example to illustrate a different point is "being preachy." Gotcha.

If your point is mentioning athiesm at any time ever in any given context is "preaching," then kindly fark off.

See, we just had a naked guy incident on one of our major streets. The cops took the man right to the hospital on the assumption that this was not his normal thing. The assumption was he was unwell, and the cops stayed with him into the hospital (he was admitted.) Maybe the cops should've done that instead of being funny. :(

/Admittedly, I think it was also 35 degrees at the time.
//But the sun was shining. Really shining.

I'm sure he was drunk or high on something and officer could tell. Nothing wrong with letting it wear off in a cell (and he should probably be kept away from the public for safety reasons anyway).
