Id rather football players be using pot as a pain killer than becoming addicted to prescription pain pills.

Move out of Alabama. There are a few states that don't crack down on personal MJ use.

I'm pleased with the decriminalization laws here in MA... Obviously, I'd prefer full legalization, but I'll take what I can get in that regard. Plus Massachusetts is a pretty great state to live in, anyway.

I don't need drugs to enjoy Massachusetts, just to enhance it...

I car that he was speeding in a residential neighborhood. He should get a ticket. I do not give two shiats he was smoking marijuana.

I lived in rural alabama for most of my childhood and went to college there and most of my family is still there. Lots of nice things about Alabama. I also left as soon as I graduated college 25 years ago and have never considered moving back so I can't really disagree with your sentiment. Nice place to be 'from', as they say.

True, but before moving out of Alabama, learn to not drive belligerently enough through residential neighborhoods so that nosey Nancy's don't report you.

Did you fall into a coma some time in the mid-nineties and just wake up? It's been around for years now. Another news flash: It's not just African American athletes doing it!

Like any of the Lions live in Detroit, sure they live in Metro-Detroit but I would bet good money that almost none of them are in the city proper.

Same way I know about your mom?

I have been to Detroit. If there were jobs there, I can think of a lot worse places to live. Could be worse; could be Cleveland. Or Baltimore.

Why I am white as a matter of fact. Though I reckon about 30% of my classmates were black growing up. Seattle is great but I have to say one downside is it doesn't have enough black people. I guess we make up for it in more asians. I'll just say it plain - I miss being around black people every day. No offense to white people intended. I enjoy all the colors.

Argh. This has the potential to be bad; the NFL is more accepting of violent players than of pot heads. Why couldn't he have just gotten into a bar fight, or maybe let's get stereotypical "black" and say he was involved in gang related violence, or beat up a woman, or thought he was playing for the Steelers and had sex of questionable consent with a woman, or something other than marijuana.

That being said, I'm still boggled that professional athletes would take a risk like this. I understand why, and I know why, but it's still something that boggles my mind. You're probably going to make millions of dollars if you can keep away from drugs, then how many get caught with drugs? Even if you believe that pot should be legalized and regulated, the law in most places says it isn't. Until it is legalized, stay the fark away from it if your job has punishments for testing positive for drugs.

/annoyed Lions fan
//was really hoping that this guy would be playing for the Lions all year next year. might still happen, probably will still happen, but damn it all.

I don't think so. Having it be 3 from the same team, and given Suh's lack of discipline last year, my guess is that the league will want to send a strong message to the coaching staff that they better get control of the players. I'd wager they each get 6 games off.

Some of the younger players may live in some of the nice riverfront apartments. That said, most of the players live in places like Birmingham, Grosse Pointe, etc.

static.bf2s.com

The riot in Detroit was 45 years ago and wasn't markedly worse than those in Newark or LA and came at a time when nearly every major US city had riots.

And did Detroit ever truly recover from those Riots? No. It's still attributed as marking the beginning of the decline Detroit faced.
