It's gotten to the point where it's infuriating that national Republican candidates not only tell such blatant lies with total impunity, and lies that are so implausible that they shouldn't even pass the smell test, but lies that take less than 10 seconds to disprove (or maybe 30 seconds on a phone), and millions of people will defend them anyway.

Rick Santorum is the embodiment of the GOP belief that their are no empirical, verifiable facts. Opinion becomes fact of you believe it really really hard. The Republicans have internalized every 90's era criticism of the Democrats: they're victims, they base their policies on feelings, they want to control every aspect of your life. The GOP is a mockery.

Skwishmitten: As a professor in the UC system, it frightens me that this man has the ear of a sizable portion of the nation. This depression is countered by the realization that Rick Santorum would not be allowed admittance to the UC system based on his intellectual ability (and that is saying quite a bit).
