Wow. He only got 30days for that.

That's rather surprising.

No, it's not. Some animals are more equal than others.

More proof that you really can hide behind a badge. I also liked the subtle mention of Bill Clinton. I'm sure he had something to do with this.

Headline ought to say meth and gay hookers, just to keep folks from mistaking him for some kind of liberal.

You go Gramps!

So no plan to take his name off the jail then? It seems cops always win, even when they lose.

Pig cop get slap on wrist?

That's unpossible!

This is a follow-up, hence the "follow-up" tag. The previous story said he might end up going to the jail named after him. Now he has been sentenced and is there.

Actually, he looks like a normal person to me.

Our local paper says:

"The judge had to decide whether former Arapahoe County Sherriff Patrick Sullivan should be treated the same as everyone else or fall under more scrutiny as a law enforcement officer in his meth-for-sex case. In the end, Arapahoe County Chief District Judge William Sylvester chose somewhere in between."

W.T.F. In between? 30 days in jail and a $1100 fine for FELONY meth possession? Ask some of the folks who are in jail for years for non-felony possession about that.

2012-04-04 11:38:46 AM
I'm willing to bet he just stays in the complex, not in a cell, for his 30 days.

Then again... 30 days locked up with young men might be his idea of a good time.

This is the kind of story they need in anti-Meth commercials. When I see someone saying they missed their kids birthday, I think, holy shiat Meth is so awesome that it's better than cake and a bouncehouse. Put out a commercial that says using meth will lead you down a path where you will be blowing some geezer cop for a little more and no one will want to try it.

I found that too, I wanted to share the article but wasn't about to link to Fox News. Stole their headline though.

30 days in jail (plus the 8 already served. ...no, I'm sure the judge came up with 38 days all on his own.) And an $1100 fine, probably 2x what he paid for the meth and sex.

is there misdemeanor meth posession? In some jurisdictions small amounts of weed is a misdemeanor but for most "hard" drugs I thought posession was almost always a felony.

Not the first time by a long damn shot

The entire Ouray County, Colorado Sheriff's Department went down in flames 'cause they were running a drug ring

In one of the best choices of directors, someone had the brains to put Darren Aronofsky in charge of a series of anti-meth ads that ran mostly (I think) in the Pacific NW.
Parental warning, drug use and intense sexual situations

Hey, he's got to be one of few cops willing to spend time in the jail that bears their name.

How did "followup" beat out "ironic" for the tag on this one?

I didn't know about that, that is a great idea.

Kraut10: How did "followup" beat out "ironic" for the tag on this one?

Because the Fark Irony Police will tell you that it's not irony based on some technically accurate reading of a definition, which differs from the way the term is used by 99% of the population. Subby was probably just trying to avoid Irony Wars.

A month sounds fair, that is what everyone else he ever arrested for the same offenses got, right?

I will be so glad in 30 days when, after his successful completion, we can finally say, "Well, the War on Drugs worked."

Well, it's rather easy to make. I propose a small experiment. Why don't we take a photo of you now. You can cook you some, use for about 30 days, and then we'll compare the results.

He should have gone to jail for 3+ years like the dealer did and lose his overly generous pension on top of it.

I knew a girl in college who got into meth. It was amazing how much she aged over the course of just 3 years. She got strung out, dropped out of school, and only kept in contact with people to try to get money.

Thanks, I'm smarter then the average moron who cooks synthetic chemicals on a stove and then smokes it if their house doesn't blow up first.

/why take drugs at all when we have this glorious weed that grows all over the planet in even the harshest conditions?

/the safe drugs are illegal

dyli: The article I read says the guy who supplied him got 3 years.

Not really enough information given for any sort of outrage. Could be the dealer already had a rap sheet and was not his first possession charge.

Afaik, it seems that the sheriff is a first time offender which may account for the differences in jail time.

I know around here the maximum jail time for possession of weed (any amount) is 6 months for a first offense, 5 years for a second, and 20 years for the third. So you could technically see an almost 4 and a half year sentencing difference between someone on their first possession charge and someone on their second if both were sentenced to the maximum limit. Could be something similar in this case.
