(Gizmodo)   While Apple's busy suing other tablet makers over their products' similarities to the iPad, enjoy these images of classic Braun industrial designs. That portable music listening device looks oddly familiar   (gizmodo.com) divider line 33

If you're gonna rip-off minimalist design, might as well rip-off the best.

I'm no fan of apple, but i think most of those are a stretch. The only one that could possibly be a copy is the ipod. The rest are just similar because they use the same general shape.

Lol, yeah my buddy was showing me this months ago. I guess I shouldn't worry if something doesn't get greenlit, I have at least 4 years and 2 months to beat the record...

Steve Jobs loved Braun, so i wouldn't discount any of the comparisons

//etc. etc. blah blah

I was not a Apple user or hater, but when Apple started winning cases (or case, I forget) because they had patented "swipe to unlock," they lost all support from me and turned me into anti-Apple.

Yes, I know that's how businesses do business, but it seems so goddamn petty and, ultimately, will affect my purchasing choices going forward ... and that's how consumers do business.

This has also been green lit 3-4 times in the past 4 years that I've seen, and I don't check Fark every day.

Apple has intentionally been aping the old "futuristic" designs from the '60s since the old plastic iMacs. They're not necessarily copying Braun specifically, but Braun was a big part of that design movement so there's a very direct connection there.

But... what Apple is suing over are patents, not really aesthetics for the most part. Albeit they're stupid patents, like the "any device allowing a touch screen to detect two points of contact at once" patent, but still.

Is this where we pretend that it's only Apple, that other companies aren't also suing Apple over tiny details of their patents?

Balance and reality, two things an iHater will never understand.

Looks like my razor foil... or a speaker grill... or a colander. Are those all made by Apple?

the fact that apple attempts to sue anybody who uses an "industrial design" similar to their product and their product is similar to existing "industrial design"s means that apple itself is committing something it finds objectionable and actionable.

this isn't about anyone suing anyone. it's about Apple fanboys constantly crying over everyone else imitating Apple.

"Some people will probably call these examples a "rip-off" but, in a world where industrial design and art are constantly being recycled into new work, I just see Apple's products as a great evolution to classic concepts. "

Well, that's certainly different from the "innovator" and "trend-setter, not follower" BS I keep hearing about Apple.

When I was in 4th grade I described the ipod to my mother in detail. The only thing I missed was the screen, cause I dont think I had ever seen a screen that wasnt a glass crt television or slide projector. I was sad because one of my friends had received a boom box for his birthday and I was hugely jealous. Since there was no way we were going to afford a boom box for me I daydreamed my way into a little music player that had buttons on it that let you play thousands of songs.

So suck it apple, I want my patent back.

cool story, 100% true you haters
