Fail. What made the first movie so entertaining was the fact that there was an element of uncertainty to it. You never knew whether or not he was a secret agent, even as the movie progressed. Most of Arnold's fight scenes he wins through luck or just because he was very strong (presumably in part because he nominally worked construction).

In this trailer he is suddenly a Kung Fu master fighting off 10 bad-guys at a time and doing flip-jumps through the air. This fundamentally limits what he can be, for he has to be a secret agent because you don't just wake up one morning and decide you are a martial arts master (although binge drinking may have this affect). You could make the argument that he is trying to determine whether or not he is awake or asleep, but that's a stupid quandry because either way he can't do anything about it. That's why they really didn't bring it up until the very end of the original.

/Another CGI-fest with lots of shiny things but no gold. Yawn.

Wellon Dowd: And Beckinsale and Biel are too old.

We need a stupid button for comments like this. I'm watching you mister, and I shall become very cross if you disparage Beckinsale a second time.

Looks like the film's artistic vibe took a lot of inspiration from Mass Effect.... Looks good.

still waitin for the Mass Effect movie...sigh

Beckinsale would make a pretty good Miranda though

Miranda (new window) already has a perfectly good actress to play her.

Wait? Really?

Why not use the woman who voices Miranda and who the CG character is modeled after, Yvonne Strahovski?

IRL vs. CG.

Tyrone Slothrop: Vidwiz: First Fright Night and now Total Recall....Colin Farrell is the re-make king! Ugh!

He'll always get a pass from me due to being in In Bruges.

Ditto.

I love how valuable all of your time is. I'll spend the 90 whatever minutes to check this out.

Jesus fark, there was way too much camera movement in that showdown around the Rekall device. How about a stationary camera?

It's a pity neither adaption does the double-twist that's in the original short story.

/Not that I know the plot of this version, but given that it's missing Mars, it's a good assumption.

You know, for a reboot, that doesn't look half bad. I'm really glad it's not a straight up remake, but rather what appears to be a different story but with the similar premise.
