I'd watch this if he played him like Kelso from "That 70s Show." You know, some lame brain who had a smart friend that invented computers, and he just came along for the ride, occasionally setting bags of dog crap on fire. And then stamping them out because they were on fire, man!

Actually, according to the Steve Jobs bio, this reads like a pretty accurate description of Steve Jobs himself. Might be a good biopic after all...

But will it show Kutcher getting his arms cut off like in the Butterfly Effect? (new window)

Also Wilmer Valderama just agreed to play Obama in an upcoming biopic.

I think he should be played by Christopher Reeves

When I realized that Open Season was the peak of Ashton Kutcher's movie career, that's when I quit going to any movie he was in.
Yes, his career is Punked.

Isn't he a bit old to be portraying that part of Jobs' life? I mean, he looks like a guy in his 30s. Wasn't Jobs in his 20s back then?

Obvious April Fool's joke, but it would be funny.

Ha ha ha ha ah ha, April Fools.

Even if it's not, Kutcher is just a little too mong* to play Jobs, don't you think ;)

* I don't get too many opportunities to use a descriptive word that I think of as representing a particular kind of idiot who has to shave the middle of their eyebrow to look just a little less like a brain damaged caveman. No insult intended to actual Mongoloids ;)

Kutcher could definitely blend in on Reed's campus, so it's not that farfetched.

Ashton Kutcher has yet to convince me his IQ is over 85.

That was a much better movie than you'd expect from TNT.

mjg: Kutcher signed on thinking it was a sequel: "That 80s Show"

Actually, the original plan was that after the 4th season, THAT 70S SHOW would
become THAT 80S SHOW; they wanted to follow the characters is somewhat
real-time.

Naturally that went out the window when the show became successful, and FOX
actually came out with a seperate show with that name to try and milk it for all
it was worth. It lasted 3 months.

I realize this story is an April Fools joke, but Ashton Kutcher could pull off the character of Steve Jobs in his sleep.

Ashton is one of the most talented young actors in Hollywood today.

They're going to top that, he's getting the full Whipple procedure onscreen.

And Kutcher is a natural for playing the holistic medicine and massive ego parts of Jobs. They'll just need a stunt double for the smart scenes.

I liked that movie. They guy who plays Ballmer is spot on.

Well, he's certainly douchey enough for the part. I wonder if they'll include the scene where he tells the woman he's knocked up she can go fark herself because he's never going to help her raise his kid.

This is not an April Fool's joke, and look at Steve Jobs when he was younger:

He may be wildly irresponsible, but he's not stupid. He was studying biochemical engineering at the University of Iowa before he was "discovered" and dropped out to be a model, then actor.

I admit, I have little idea what hipster means, but do you think that Ashton Kutcher fits into any definition of "hipster"? Do you think that the guy that became famous for That 70s Show and Punk'd is a big hit on the hipster circuit?

Seriously? I find him to be a smarmy douche but considering how he has kept finding ways to keep himself relevant and make money despite having one limited acting note I gotta believe he's pretty smart.

slowly going through the Jobs biography.....

interesting tidbit on how Jobs' biological sister Mona Simpson, her husband became a writer for the simpsons. he wrote some episode on Marge's mother, character needed a name....that's why marge's mom is named mona. go look it up.

also crazy story how mona finds their biological dad in the mid-late 80s. he'd bumped around the US working in restaurants, he later says in the early 80s he worked at a san jose vegetarian restaurant. he tells her, "all those Apple guys used to go there.....I even met Steve Jobs once!"

in the book, this scene is described as Mona wanting to shout "HE'S YOUR SON, DUMMY!"

I certainly hope he's a Method actor.

Yes. He's very smart, and despite your claims, quite talented. Compare his portrayal of Kelso with his character in Valentine's Day and then to his role in The Butterfly Effect.

He has serious range and flexibility. In a decade, we'll be looking back at his body or work and comparing him to greats like Ewan Macgregor and Tom Selleck. They also weren't appreciated as much as they should have been, but their performances stand the test of time.

Having taken my share of engineering courses in college, I can assure you that plenty of idiots major in stuff like that thinking they can muddle through only to wash out by junior year. Just because he was studying it doesn't make him smart.

He's been a fairly successful early-adopter and first-mover on a lot of tech. How many people heard of Twitter before Kutcher was on it?

I think you're misattributing that quote to me, but you're right.

He's also way out front on social issues like human trafficking.

I don't see what the problem is. The mans a damn fine actor. I'm positive that he will do a bang up job. I wouldn't expect anything less than an academy award nomination.
