Lulz, dare I say that not since the epic promo by CM Punk last year have we had this much crossover appeal?

SharkTrager: Praise Cheesus: desertgeek: That is an awesome story. Hopefully you and yours are safe and sound after those twisters today.

Oh, we're fine. We're about 10 miles northeast (as the crow flies) of DFW Airport. The only things we ended up getting were rain, thunder and some wicked swirling wind patterns in the grass out back.

That reminds me, I really need to find someone willing to mow that mess for me. I'm just not capable of pushing a mower around anymore.

Lewisville?

Yeah. I'm getting f'ing old and dealing with a bum shoulder, bad knees, bad back and I have severe hay fever on top of it all. Damn near killed myself trying to mow the front yard a couple of weeks back.

You know what pissed me off last night and cemented Cena as a to eternal boos in my book?

The fact he tried to take credit for DB's chants last night. He starts chanting with the fans and says, "You owe me Daniel Bryan."

Why? DB earned those chants yet Cena is acting as if he launched him in to the stratosphere.

Stupid rant I know, but it's been bugging me.

No, he knew he was encouraging something Vince was hating, and by doing so, and acknowledging exactly what the chant meant, he was helping put DB over.

It's a pretty big deal for the biggest face in the company to go off script in a way he knows the CEO will hate, and you also need to remember that a lot of casual fans watching on TV really didn't get what was happening.

Also, I would point out Swayze had to use Whoopie Goldberg's body to hook up with his wife, and that is really a cruel thing to wish on me.

So you're saying Cena is writing Zack's stories and is responsible for the fact Bourne, who was part of the first real tag team to get a push in years, completely threw it all away.

You know, I find Cena's character boring and his skills sub-par, but he's not the one calling the shots. The only reason Punk had any pull was because his expired contract had Vince's balls in a vice.

Not sure. There are Gentleman Ghosts, though.

I doubt she wants her daughter dating a ghost. That would be awkward.

It worked for Patrick Swayze.

Yeah, but then he got wounded in several bar fights and died of cancer. Why would you wish that on me?

Seriously. It was bad enough when that Darko kid burned your damn house down and exposed all your kiddie porn.

But then he made up for it by being a skydiving bank robber and Pecos Bill. All at once.

Yeah, but then he cheated on his wife, broke up Heath Ledger's marriage and molested young boys in Mexico, so he's not the saint you portray him to be.

SharkTrager:
Also, I would point out Swayze had to use Whoopie Goldberg's body to hook up with his wife, and that is really a cruel thing to wish on me.

Maybe she's not the most attractive person, but her undefeated streak made for some compelling Monday night television in the late 90s.

robsul82: SharkTrager: You know, I find Cena's character boring and his skills sub-par, but he's not the one calling the shots

No, you're right, let's pretend for the first time in the history of professional wrestling the top guy has no pull and can't say "push my friend, push this guy, I see something in him."

And again, how do you know he hasn't done this?

Okay so, Zack Ryder did go out and get himself over, and his videos are still entertaining, and yes his WWE storylines are stupid. The thing is, what is he other than a midcard comedy face, honestly? He's not a ring technician, and he is heavily attached to his gimmick. I'm not knocking the guy, but there are some good reasons why he hasn't entered month 4 of a US title reign and isn't being considered for a run near the top.

Daniel Bryan is a different story. He has a proven, sound, technical background. He has adapted to ROH, Japan and now WWE. He has repeatedly taken lemons and turned them into lemonade. His gimmick is funny but not flat-out Santino Marella-esque comedy. His rise is also not fueled by righteous indignation like CM Punk's was - it's fueled by Bryan's earnestness and ingratiating nature. Bryan has something even Punk doesn't have, and that's the everyman quality.

People should not stop with the "YES! YES! YES!" until Daniel Bryan is accepting his WWE Hall of Fame entry.
