Drive had a terrible soundtrack. The Tangerine dream-y films core was fine, but the actual songs? good farking lord.

The whole movie reeked of "My First Art Film."

Pandora's Litterbox: Bathia_Mapes: The Stunt Man (new window) soundtrack is missing from that list.

As is Ascenseur Pour L'échafaud (new window)

Both good ones. How about Orfeu Negro?

And speaking of Miles (who I don't care for all that much), I liked the mellow mood of The Hot Spot soundtrack (Miles Davis, John Lee Hooker, Taj Mahal, Roy Rogers (the other one), Jack NItzsche.

Also, listmaker can't count, thinks there are only three Tarantino soundtracks there.

This list has more fail than win.

Lots of Boomer stuff

No mention of The Crow which had the remarkable luck to hire a bunch of soon to be famous bands while they were still cheap and unknown and was released right as most of those bands were becoming well known.

2012-04-01 12:15:32 PM
I don't see even one John Williams soundtrack on there (Star Wars, ET, Close Encounters) HELLO!?!

Also, no Glory which was an amazing soundtrack.

FAIL

Another fan of "The Hot Spot"'s ST? I knew there had to be at least one more inhabiting the globe. You've fine taste.

I'm also very much deeply dig Duke E.'s accompaniment to Anatomy of a Murder. (new window)

and

Quincy's to In Cold Blood (new window)

and

Cave and Ellis' to The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford (new window)

I'll stop now while I can.

It was a good thing they took a shot with those bands.

I'm listening to Danny Elfmans score for Peewee's big adventure in a brewery right now. So I'm getting a kick.

Breakfast machine makes the bottler run better.

Ditto, ditto.

Thought about mentioning Anatomy, forgot about In Cold Blood, not familiar with the music from the last one you mentioned.

How about a couple from Takemitsu?

Jose Torrés (new window)
Woman in the Dunes (new window)

Wish all my music wasn't boxed up; I need some visual reminders.

What about the soundtrack from "The Mission".

2012-04-01 12:47:50 PM
Glad to see Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence on the list.

I'd swap out Pretty in Pink and replace it with Some Kind of Wonderful for the John Hughes slot.

Moulin Rouge! should be on the list.

2012-04-01 12:48:48 PM
Crap! And Ry Cooder's had some good ones. Alamo Bay. Paris, Texas. The Long Riders. He also did the score for The End of Violence, but the soundtrack compilation is a very fine album, with some deep tracks not found elsewhere.

My list would include Hackers, Cruel Intentions, and Forces of Nature. All three soundtracks were way better than the movies.
