That wing went dangerously high in the air. I'd hate to see that shiat at Texas.

Indy is like...the exact opposite of NASCAR when it comes to throwing cautions.

No spare Hamsters to test at Indy?

While I was away?

I was up I missed it.

Did I just hear right? Lotus will skip the Indy test on account of lack of engines?

What I imagine the conversation in race control:

"Fark it, we now have a new chicane!"

A few years ago I was dispatching at seca during a car show. We had parade laps for fans and one car blew an oil line. It was a 62 Nova with a grand national engine. I was trying to send a flat bed to pick him up when a motorcycle cop on the track told the Guy to drive it off. Dumped oil on the entire race way. Cop turned off his radio cause I was screaming in his ear that he was a moron and we had cart the following week.
I didn't need to worry, that was the week the split ended. Our race was canceled.

And not one driver hits it, or complains to their spotter.

EPIC. Can't breed those high-test hamsters

And for the 2nd week in a row, she can't get a Legge up on the track

A hamster just decided to hit the litter box.

That *is* at once cool, and sad. Hopefully they'll be back some day.

Just to recap:

-Parts of a wing strewn across a straightaway: no caution.
-Katharine Legge in the sandtrap: full-course yellow

Weird.

2012-04-01 04:16:35 PM
cameroncrazy1984: -Katharine Legge in the sandtrap: full-course yellow

She's in a trap that's just off the apex of a turn, which is about the worst place to stopped.

I'm just going to assume it was the combination that led to it. I'm giving the new race director at least half a season before I start talking shiat.

Sandtrap. Ha!

It's funny now that Danica is gone you don't hear much about the 2 or 3 ladies they have still racing here now

Seemed like a perfectly reasonable SC to me.

That's a good point. I guess you don't want anyone else to do the same thing while her car is still out there.

Plus, if you look up track and see that giant gouge, that's where the Grand Am Prototype dug into the grass in a scary level of deceleration yesterday. You don't want cars getting nervous at that part of the track.

And I have to confess to a slight crush on Simona.

Bingo. That's why Sato's car just got a local yellow, he parked where the odds of someone hitting the car are very low. And I have seen it happen before, one car spins coming out of turn and just as it's stopping another car spins and slaps it.

Jensaarai: hat's where the Grand Am Prototype dug into the grass in a scary level of deceleration yesterday

I watched that race last night. That was some seriously impressive deceleration when it dug in.

Did I miss a restart and subsequent SC or is this the same one for Legge?

2012-04-01 04:24:43 PM
Video of yesterday's Grand Am WTF wreck. (new window)

It should start you at 2:23 in the video, where a GT car comes back on track in front of traffic, and a prototype goes in the grass to avoid it. That is some massive deceleration there.

10 laps to go at Martinsville. Gordon is chasing Johnson... again. It *is* close enough to warrant a look.

Anyone catch the clip on Speed of Tony Stewart and Lewis Hamilton hanging out?

Spoiler discretion, from my announcers?

Ha... speed is showing a race from last year at my track!

Heheheh @ Robin Miller. I love that crotchety bastard. Even his compliments are backhanded.

"They actually look like professional race car drivers for 2 weeks in a row!"

Oh man I hope Rubens can hold on for a top 10.

OK, NASCAR just hit maximum lulz.

Bowyer divebombed the 24 and 48, damaging the former and taking out the latter.

IT WAS A WORTHY SACRIFICE. THE IDOL IS PLEASED.

Meanwhile, Dixon is still cursing out his pit crew over that nut

Word from someone over at /r/indycar from Reddit was that Franchitti is struggling because he insisted on running the old pedal/clutch configuration. In a way, that makes him an underdog, which makes me root for him.

W00T! 3 wins for SHR!

2012-04-01 04:44:39 PM
If Barichello really is getting a handle on the car and they can set things up right things could get very interesting this season.

2012-04-01 04:44:54 PM
I'd completely forgotten about Rubens being a right-foot braker. That explains quite a lot.

Bourdais in that awesome paint scheme is also a good dark horse pick for a road/street win. He's the most likely to put that hamster to good use.

2012-04-01 04:46:43 PM
Well that's why I heard nothing about the Push to Pass -- the new engine manufactures still have to implement it.

Do it POST HASTE

2012-04-01 04:46:57 PM
OK, since Gordon got smushed and ran outta gas in the other thread, I'm gonna say:

GO WILL POWER.

/difficult not to make that all one word :)

They're trying to roll out the engines, then the different bodies, and P2P will come somewhere along there. They just don't want to throw all of it at them at once.

/Congrats, Will Power
//Good race
