I'm pretty sure it sucks to have cancer and all but isn't kind of a dick move to publicly guilt celebrities into going to functions with you? And wasn't this poor girl already publicly embarrassed on stage at an awards show by Ice Puff Doggy T?

You know what? fark em. They praise Jesus and thank their fans, let them spend one night doing charity work.

It will be just another night for the celebrity and it will mean the world for the kid. They can't spare one night?

In all fairness, if she's been nominated, she shouldn't miss out on something that she may have dreamed about it all her life. If she was performing, she may have had contractual obligations.

It was pretty neat for her to invite him to the ACM, I'm sorry he's too sick to attend. Cancer sucks.

I don't have cancer, but I would be glad to take his place.

I don't really like country, but I'd be willing to shave my head, and eyebrows just so I could tell my grandchildren about the time Taylor Swift gave me an under-the-jacket hand job while 40 million people watched as the camera zoomed in on her for an audience reaction shot.

Yes, Kanye was a punk, but seriously though, how long is she (and other people) gonna milk the 'poor Taylor' thing when it come to that?

Good for cancer. Taylor Swift is a piss poor excuse for a country singer.

What did he do to deserve their time? Unless said celebrity somehow gave them cancer, it's just another example of someone's little snowflake demanding the world change for their whims by using guilt to manipulate them.

"Do this or appear to be the world's biggest jerk" is pretty much just blackmail for personal profit.

I'm fine with celebrities doing things for sick people, but I'm tired of the idea that sick people are somehow owed free celebrities on demand.

If there's one thing I can't handle in a cancer patient thread, it's people being disrespectful to has-been rappers.

I dunno, I read something so outdated and ridiculous, and my sense of humor is insulted. It would have merely been a bad joke in the mid 90s when it was just badly outdated, but I feel like such intentional affronts to humor are simply trolling 20 years later.

Ummm...charity isn't supposed to be given in the form of dates. Giving money to research, coming by and visiting people in the cancer ward, talking to a bunch of kids, okay, that's charity. Being guilted into a date so someone can stare at your tits? Not so much. Not even being really sad and pathetic means other people are obligated to put up with your advances. If he just wants to meet Miss Swift, fine. But I find the guilt angle and constant public pressure angle kinda creepy.

The best kind of charity is the kind that goes unpublicized.

I was watching something today, and it was a sports team showing a clip of their players visiting a hospital. Conveniently enough, it's a hospital the team has an advertising agreement with. SHOCKING.

Of course, this whole thing was supposed to be an attention getter from the start, so who knows.

Get well soon, kid. Eff cancer, but you're in the best place to get that treated.

Because when you have cancer, you have a lot of bad days, and very very very very few good days. And those good days make those bad days....well, not go away, but it is easier to go through them when you have good memories. That's why. Because if I'm sick and going through chemo and radiation (as I've seen family members and friends go through), a simple thing like a mini-golf outing or a trip to a ball game will put a huge smile on someone's face.

So maybe this guy's sister was tired of him having bad days and not a lot of good memories since he is only 18. And he wasn't the one that did this stunt. It was his sister.

Only thing worse than an attention whore is a pity whore. At least attention whores try to be entertaining, pity whores give nothing in return.

And it's easy, very very easy, to point out millions of kids who have it worse than an American kid with cancer. Just think how bad pygmy kids have it. There's people who think eating them grants the eater magic. Hunted, like animals, by farkheads who think they'll get magic powers. Plus I'm sure there's rape, there's always rape. But no, let's all feel sorry for the kid with the disease that gets billions in research money, while pygmy children are hunted, raped and eaten.

Won't someone think of the pygmies?
