Harv72b: -The U.S. quarantine of Cuba (Cuban Missile Crisis) ended 2 days into Moyer's life.

I have to assume that it ended because Moyer came into the world.

Harv72b: (Moyer is not listed on the roster, so I guess not up to date).

Nope, they're right. Moyer isn't on the 40 man yet, and doesn't have to be until Wednesday.

DeWayne Mann: Nope, they're right. Moyer isn't on the 40 man yet, and doesn't have to be until Wednesday.

Actually, technically, he doesn't have to be until 10 minutes before his start. Wednesday is just when the post spring training rosters are due.

Generation_D: As long as Moyer is in the league, I don't feel old. Wish Seattle still had him. We might have even made the WS in 2000 had he not been hurt for the playoffs.

Moyer played with Thad Bosley on the '89 Rangers
Bosley played with Minnie Minoso* on the '80 ChiSox
Minoso played with Bob Feller on the '51 Indians - and Feller began his career in 1936

Ryan also connects Moyer to Pee Wee Reese through Ron Fairly who played with Ryan on the '79 Angels and Reese on the '58 Dodgers

*Minoso only got 2 PA for the Sox in 1980, He was 54 years old

Moyer is a self-entitled douchenozzle. If I was at the game I'd try to put a beer on him. I hope he takes a line drive to the orbital socket.

The Bestest: In other pitching news, Yankees put Pineda on the DL and he will miss the start of the season.
Bah. My only solace as a Yankees fan is that Montero is 1 for 7 so far.

Every Yankee fan that hated that deal is having a field day today.

/I still think it was a good trade

Well, I guess we now know Tyler Chatwood or Guillermo Moscoso's Fark Handle.

Good for Jamie. Wish him well until he pitches against the Phils. Will always be grateful to anybody on the '08 team. Except Adam Eaton.

Seriously. Fark you Eaton.

Go Rockies!

That'll teach you to pick up scraps from the Padres' trash heap. Once we're done with them in San Diego, they're spent.

He was the gift that never gave. We traded him to you for Andy Ashby (another abortion) and then signed him to a ridiculous fa contract for some inexplicable reason. Man being a Phillies fan used to suck. We had so many horrible starting pitchers it wasn't even funny.

I still remember where I was and what I was doing when ESPN announced that he was leaving Seattle.

Does MLB allow a pitcher to wear an onion on his belt?

I've been enjoying the last several years as much as I can, because I can never escape the nagging feeling that eventually we'll be back living in the land of perpetual suckitude.

Yeah, like that Freese guy the Cards picked up for a broken down Jim Edmonds. What a bust he turned out to be.

Jeez. I remember watching this guy pitch a lot for the Orioles in 1993. I didnt realize until now that it was the same Jamie Moyer.

Wow. Moyer was once teammates with
Ron Cey (1986), who was once teammates with
Hoyt Wilhlem (1972), who was teamates with
Max Lanier (1952), who was teammates with
Guy Bush (1938) who was teammates with
John Kelleher (1923) who pitched for the 1912 Cardinals, and who was at the time teammates with
Roger Breshenan (1912), who pitched for the 1897 Senators (and 1900 Chicago Orphans) and who was at the time a teammate of
Tom Brown (1897) who was born the year Abraham Lincoln was elected (1860) and who played for the 1882 Orioles and who was a there a teammate of
Amos Booth (1882), who was born in 1848, and whose cousin later shot Lincoln.

2012-04-02 02:15:26 PM
ISO15693: Wow. Moyer shot Lincoln.

THAT'S why SevenisGud hates him! I gotta say I feel it's kind of justified since you broke it down like that.
