Why are the deputy sheriffs on welfare? Don't they get paid to be deputy sheriffs?

Sheesh.

;)

Well, it seems they properly identified themselves, and she acknowledged it and replied with a lack of care, and began shooting.

Sometimes ya gotta shoot grandma, I'm okay with this.

Indubitably: Sheesh.

;)

P.S. She was daft. Obvious out.

Heh, if she uses that excuse she'll be in more trouble, court-ordered psych care tends to be longer than she's likely got left.

As much as Trayvon Martin case is a sham, do we have to see everything on that light?

If they identified themselves, that cannot be standing your ground

It's going to be hilarious when this stupid gun fapper, CCW/Stand Your Ground shiat plays out. It's about to be honkey season in Florida, and these NRA dipshiats don't even see it coming yet.

Sounds like she was trying for suicide by cop. They should have obliged her.

Comments section has all kinds of derp.

Including folks that don't grasp what a "welfare check" by police is and demanded the police get charged for trespass, etc.

In the words of Kyle Kinane: "Every vote counts? I've never been more horrified of a concept in my entire life. Look around you."

She won't, friend, I suspect she just wants to die from some pain, and thought defending herself from that pain would deflect the inevitable; it won't.

Pain hurts.

;(

P.S. 'Tis okay that it does, cuz, 'tis nature to pain and die...

And just because I say I'm the most handsome motherfarker in the world doesn't make it so if you can't see me to confirm it with your own eyes...

Said she shot *at* them. Could she see well enough to *hit* them? Of course, with a .45, you just have to get in the neighborhood, but still...

Someone she didn't know and possibly couldn't positively identify entered her house without her consent. I'd be pointing a gun in their direction, too....

Looking at her, she might be better off. Poor old bat, she needs someone taking care of her, might as well be the hospital.

Yeah, and why did the deputies have to share the one check? That's bullshiat.

She has the right to stand her ground.
She has the right to defend her castle.
The deputies invaded her domain.

The deputies should be procecuted like they were black mexicans.

Hows that Stand Your Ground law working out for ya Floritards?

Did the officers have a warrent as required by the 4th Amendment? If not then why were they breaking into this woman's home?

How the heck did three grown men fit on a check; those things are, like, six square inches!

Not to mention that how they are paid is not germane to the story.

a smart criminal would say something similar. so she was right in defending herself. there would be plenty more replacement deputys to replace the stupid ones.

Well she got her answer. Cause if you start a shootout with the cops like that, that's farkin suicide.

This is just sad.

That said, the second that the deputies established that she was ok and that she wanted them to leave their job was done. Scared old woman did what she probably thought she had to do. "Backing off" is not leaving. "ok Mam, thank you. We are leaving now" and GTFO is the only appropriate response. They could have retreated outside the home and evaluated what to do. They did not deserve to be shot, but neither does a woman need to be charged for defending her home.

Plenty of home invasions happen every year where the intruder claims to be some sort of authority figure. Merely yelling "police" from the other room would not get me to disarm either.

If the daughter was that worried she could have told the police that her mom was a danger to herself and needed psychiatric care, it would have been handled very differently.

/also lock your damn door people
// had she done so, three people would have had a much better day.

Where in the Constitution does it say she has to care. She was doing nothing wrong. Did the deputies have a warrent as the 4th Amendment requires? If not why did they break into her house? I assume deputies would know the Constitution but this is Floriduh so maybe they were just highschool football jocks.

well obviously there weren't enough hoodies to go around in this situation.

One of my buddies was killed by the police in San Diego last year. He was walking down the street and pointed his shotgun at the police. They didn't waste any time defending themselves. I'll be the first to complain about the police abusing their power but in this case and my friend's case I'll defend the cops all day long. It's pretty damned stupid to pull a gun on a cop.

I'm not sure why anyone in america would call the cops out to anybody's house where the resident was suffering from instability or mental problems if they actually gave a shiat about that person.
they aren't social workers. they are a sledge hammer.
I'm just shocked the old woman isn't dead and doesn't have 30 rounds in her.

Since cops can break the law, especially minor political posturings like this one, to enforce the law, it probably doesn't matter. Their self-defense, in this particular case, overrules delusional grandma.
