Meh. Shiat like this changes every ten years or so. Someone 'modernizes' it.
The symbol in the Christopher Reeve movie was different from George Reeves' 50's version. Just like his was different from the original appearance in the comics 20 years earlier. Ten years from now, they'll update it again.

They even went with this for a while, circa 1940:

There's an interesting little site that kind of gives the rundown of the image through the ages.

This too shall pass.

it has too much of a swirl to it and it looks like a Japanese river-dragon. there's just too much of a serpent/snake-like look to it.

I don't really mind the busy-ness of the extra-snakey addition really, but the colors are just all wrong.

I get that they were going for some sort of molten, flowing steel/slag look...but it has the colors of a scab you pick off your arm.

Dear design artists: he's Superman, you know, Kal-El...from the House of El, the House of Light. a shining beacon of hope. incorporate that into the logo.

why not just use this 'S'

um yeah also, the Nike swoosh is about the least similar thing that the logo resembles. subby should've left the commentary out of the headline.

sorry subs, but that's a weak comparison.

This is the first known appearance of a guy in a Supersuit, at the World's Fair in 1940.

A lot of people in 1940 had not yet heard of Supes, so he had to actually have his name written on.

Hm... eh, I have no objection. Same basic shape with some stylization that warns the viewer that they're about to step into a Zach Snyder movie and should down enough whiskey to kill their critical thinking ability first. Very fair.

He's from Krypton, where the Jerry's Kids will still kick your ass. Besides, 1940 Superman could only leap 1/8 of a mile. Reversing the Earth's spin was a long-term back burner project.

OK, that's not as bad as I was expecting, but mostly because the headline made me expect Goatse hands.

I don't think the logo is all that bad.

The uniform looks terrible, though. What's with all the phony lines and cuffs and buckle for no belt? And the faded colors? And the perm?

Because that's why no one went to see the last one: the logo wasn't fancy enough. Thanks Hollywood!

AICN receives checks and payola from studios. If they could afford to outside advertise for their site, they'd be able to afford to drag their web site into the 21st century.

This whole production lacks zaz.
