It is a cool little Zoo. They have a wonderful conservatory with tropical plant life, flower gardens, Koi ponds, and a nice Japanese Garden. The indoor area is open all year, so it is a nice steamy tropical escape during the winter months.

The animals all look pretty happy and healthy, though I think I remember a tiger-on-loan dying not too long ago. I'd probably call up for Mr. Sloth. They have a sloth that just chills in one tree, no cage or enclosure needed. The thing comes down for some lettuce leaf and then scoots slowly back up living the exciting life of a sloth.

The wolves seem more active during the winter months, often seen pacing around quite often during the day.

Entry is free, with a suggested donation of $2. Their take on April Fools is amusing so I'll probably toss in more than that on my next visit. The conservatory area is a great place to read a book.

Also, Como Zoo is very confusing for Spanish speakers.

"Adonde el zoo?"

"Como Zoo?"

"Que?"

/Como zoo is pretty cool

Speaking of...

The office needs to follow my suggestion for creating a voicemail for a fictional for Frank Lee Dubious. "ous" sounding like "ay". That way telemarketers can think they're getting to someone.

Honestly... "for a fictional character named" is what that was supposed to be. Thank you android.

About 25 years ago my sisters and I told my Mom that a Mr. Fox had called her, and gave her the Como Zoo number. Imagine our disappointment when she didn't find it funny at all.

Only someone who works for the government would think wasting money on extra phone lines is a good solution to prank calls.

Anyone want to bet they aren't going to bother canceling the lines after April 1st?

Agarista: I wonder if they have dolphins that never die...

I had to look that up. Hadn't heard that one before.
But "immortal porpoises" ?
Umm, is "immortal" supposed to sound like "commercial" ??

The joke for those who haven't heard it....

One cutting edge aquarium saved a lot of money when its owner discovered a means to make the dolphins live forever -- since the dolphins never died, no money needed to be spent on buying new ones. Extending the dolphins' lives required putting a special mixture into their food; one of the ingredients was baby sea gull meat. So one day, one of the workers was sent to the beach to find some. On the way back, baby sea gulls in hand, he had to pass through a forest. In the middle of the path was a sleeping lion. He very carefully stepped over it, only to be handcuffed by a policeman.

"Officer," he said, "what's going on?"

"You're under arrest," said the policeman.

"But why?" he asked.

The policeman replied, "For transporting young gulls across sedate lions for immortal porpoises."

Perhaps you can answer that last question, if Agarista can't, since you are familiar with the joke...
