JohnBuck41 & lethological_lassie, we don't live in UP of MI, just have kin who do. This was shared in Cinti OH & nearby (?) by a quite veteran mbr of Plumbicon's barbershop harmony chorus, long-time quartetter who's unfortunately becoming too old & weak to stand on either the risers (for chorus) or the floor (for QT). He's pushing 90!
Where JohnBuck41 lives, this could happen too. She who sent this out very first lives in downtown Naubinway MI, on N shore of Lk MI.

"There is a moose having a baby in my front yard" doesn't sound as strange when you consider that you guys are waaay up there. I've had similar issues with deer and I'm still in metro Detroit.

Nuther From "There", may tell those who follow such things how venerable this save is. From before I ever came here, I'm sure. Critter is a baby stoat. Am reminded of the kids' show on BFBS (British Forces Bcstg Svc, to which we used to listen in W Berlin the lifetime ago. "Uncle Bill" who was an Older Gent then, would relate these tales of anthropomorphised critters. Beavers & badgers were the good guys, stoats & weasels the bad. When their village name rises from the muck that passes for my mind, I'll write it down to relay
(not that anyone would really care).

Chimpasaurus: sherpa18: lethological_lassie, akimbotoo, Zizzowop, yobbery: and anyone else I may have missed who is trying to medicate a hyperthyroid cat, I have a couple of suggestions based on my personal experience. While crushing the pills to mix in food is all well and good, it still tends to be a bit grainy. Try dissolving the pill in a little hot tap water before adding to the food.

Dragon hates pill pockets, so I hit upon the simple solution of breaking the pill into quarters so that they would fit into his favorite soft treats. Sure, he still beats me from time to time, but I figure (and my vet agrees) that his getting 3/4 of a pill instead of spitting the whole thing out where I find it a day later is better than nothing.

My 15 yr old was just diagnosed with slight hyperthyroidism. He just started meds and it's half a pill, so luckily I can hide it in a piece of meat and he eats it with no problems. Question though---do any of you know what happens if you don't medicate them for a few days? I'm worried about what will happen during the holidays when we go out of town for the weekend and no one else will come over to medicate him every day.

-Sorry, just saw this and I have an answer for you, if you haven't got one yet. Our senior kitty for a while would get his hyperthyroid meds periodically because I just couldn't bear the process of pinning him down and squirting that stuff in his mouth. What happens? Well, the same thing that happens when he needed it in the first place, he lost more weight. He still, and always, eats like a horse, but because of his thyroid, he doesn't gain much weight. When he gets his regular regiment of meds, we noticed he gained more weight and was a lot healthier as a result. So, if your cat misses a dose or two it shouldn't be a big deal.

reddot, I truly regret we let ourselves be spoofed. But for MI UP it seems perfectly logical! Reckon I need to send ole Bill Cates the linkies you included, that didn't blank (unless that makes them spoofs in themselves? dunno, wl ck out first as I didn't do with moose birth tale/tail).
kevinboehm who lives in Dee-troit typed above that deer have so performed there. Deer live right next to us; we see 'em when coming home late at night, several at a time, in ours & adjacent yards. Never had a fawn drop in our own yard, at least not while we were up to see it. There are fairly dense thickets behind the residential lots that'd work better.
Besides baby aardvark at Busch Gardens (not Zoo, sorry), there's also the sorta predictable Cadbury Surrogate recipe thread up right now. Commented there in another commercial threadjack that Michael's Arts & Crafts doesn't carry egg forms. Someone within story said eBay has forms. I rang up Michael's & they don't. Hobby Lobby or other craft places may, but HL aren't there Sundays. Meant to attempt a much-lower-calorie version but haven't yet. Bet one cd use pyrex or similar egg cups; choc coating may be optional.
Also regret WallOfText just ensued. Back to subject!

Shakespeare's Monkey: Bailey is 19. The biggest challenge is keeping her eating. She gets Whiskas in the foil pouch,
but she often just licks the gravy off and leaves the meat. Wish I could solve that one.

Don't know if you got a response or not (I'm really late to the show here), but Sherpa gave me a tip about this: My cat, Chloe, does the same thing. Sherpa suggested mashing it up with a fork and heating it up JUST A LITTLE. The smell comes out for them. My Chloe may have tooth issues which keeps her from the chunks. I don't know. But she's healthy.
