Did anyone else see that documentary about the guy who invented Jelly Belly? I think it was called Candy Man. They screwed him but good. Hooray for capitalism!

You have to understand each man's motivation for running.

RON PAUL is running on a specific principle; always has. He knows damn well he's never stood a chance any of the times he's run, but he's trying to push his specific issues into the spotlight and perhaps onto the platform.

Santorum is representing a specific group of people. One could also argue that if not for Gingrich siphoning the anti-Romney vote he'd be a far more serious contender (for the nomination that is. He'd be absolutely toxic in the general.).

Gingrich.. well I see one of three things: A) he genuinely believes himself to be the nation's savior, B) Spite. Pure, unfiltered spite. or C) this is his meal ticket.

Does he actually think he has a chance of winning? Probably not.

But he's happy to stay in the race to get better financial deals later even if he's helping Obama get reelected. What a man of principle.

Reganesque foreign policy?
Does he want to have the CIA to train Taliban fighters and send Donnie Rumsfeld to sell chemical weapons to Saddam Hussein?

FTFA:According to Santorum spokesman Matt Beynon, the 7 p.m. Eastern address will focus on "a Reaganesque foreign policy."

So he's proposing to sell arms to Iran to finance drug runners in Central America?

As Rmoney receives his GOP-E ordained endorsement by Bush the Elder in Texas, Rick Santorum evokes the shade of Reagan at a... jellybean factory in California?

In order to make a speech on foreign policy?

Oh, FFS, Rick, why not just go full retard and give your speech at Disneyland in front of the "It's a Small World" thingy.

People might take you more seriously.

At this point I think Santorum just hijacked a tour group and started talking. I mean the guy has been talking in such vast GOP power centers as Beaver Dam and Sparta. C'mon, Sparta; like those 2,000 votes won't be what puts him over the top for the nomination.

Although Romney's in the metropolis that is Muskego Saturday so that should tell you how much they care about this state.

1976 - Ford wins Primary, Reagan is runner up
1980 - Reagan wins Primary, Bush is runner up
1984 - Reagan incumbent
1988 - Bush wins Primary, Dole is runner up
1992 - Bush incumbent
1996 - Dole wins Primary, Buchannan is runner up*
2000 - Bush wins Primary, McCain is runner up

2012 - Romney wins Primary, Santorum is runner up
2016 - see the trend?

Santorum doesn't need to win, he's aiming for 2nd place because for the last 30 years, 2nd place means you get to win the next time. Unless you are Buchannan.

Really surprised no one has commented on how maybe giving a speech at Jelly Belly perhaps may not make you sound like a tough and hardened leader. I mean, think about it, Santorum will now have a jelly belly foreign policy. It's almost as bad, though perhaps more appropriate, as if he had given his speech at the fruitcake factory.

Wrong. The trend is that every 20 years, the trend skips a 2nd place.

Or that the power of 'Son of a President' can trump the trend.
Can't say every 20 years until it happens twice.

When talking Jelly Bellys and Santorum, how did you not work the phrase "candy ass" in there somehow?

Just watched this a couple nites ago. Interesting story. I, personally, won't buy a Jelly Belly ever again. The Jelly Belly inventor would fit in perfectly amongst we Farkers

Jelly Belly is an example of all that's wrong with business today... a guy has a great idea, puts decades of hard work into it, partners with existing bigger businesses to grow his business, then the bigger business forces the little guy who actually has good ideas out of his own company. Fark them with a rusty spork.

Actually, Huckabee received the 2nd most actual pledged delegates. The GRAND total is an estimate based on the actual pledged delegates + some magic hand-waving juju for contests that depend on the outcomes of future caucuses. After this magic hand-waving estimate, Romney ends up with more 7 more delegates than Huckabee, but it's so screwed up that for 2008 the total number of estimated delegates added up to 2,390, even though there are only 2,380 possible.
