pute kisses like a man: I have a rule that any restaurant that depicts the animal which it serves, and the animal is smiling, it will be a good restaurant. if there is an animal and it is not smiling, do not eat there.

I've always liked the theory that the more human the pig on the bbq restaurant sign is, the better the food.
Pig only, bad. Smiling pig, good. Smiling pigs in top hats, great. Human with pig nose, excellent.

// although, here is one exception to the non-smiling pig. however, it works because it uses another word for pig, and is also a reference to a traditional method of cooking the pig, the cochon de lait.

We have a Nacho Mama's here in Oregon, too. Is it a chain or just coincidental naming?

My all-time favorite was a Chinese-Mexican place in San Antonio. It was called Wok-a-Mole.

The food was good too.

It's not bad, but try Carolina's some time(One up by Sunnyslope, one about 1/2 a mile Southeast of BOB, or whatever the Hell they changed the name to). Also, there's a place at about 16th Street and Thomas called Juan's that I have been going to since the mid-90's. La Tolteca at 12th St and Van Buren is good, too. Especially because they have a small market attached, and you can buy a 6 pack and drink it with your lunch(Unless they got rid of it, which would be sad).

I love Carolina's. The Sunnyslope one (Cactus just off Cave Creek) is the one I go to.

There is one in Waterford MI too. Another one to much of a dive to be a franchise. Unless they have low standards.

This thread does remind me of this quote:

"Do you know on this one block you can buy croissants in five different places? There's one store called Bonjour Croissant. It makes me want to go to Paris and open up a store called Hello Toast."

Homer: Sir, I need to know where I can get some business hammocks.

Hank Scorpio: Hammocks? My goodness, what an idea. Why didn't I think of that?

Hammocks! Homer, there's four places. There's the Hammock Hut, that's on third.

Homer: Uh-huh.

Hank Scorpio: There's Hammocks-R-Us, that's on third too. You got Put-Your-Butt-There.

Homer: Mm-Hmm.

Hank Scorpio: That's on third. Swing Low, Sweet Chariot... Matter of fact, they're all in the same complex; it's the hammock complex on third.

Homer: Oh, the hammock district!

There's a greasy spoon in The Beach area of Toronto that has been called
"The Goof " for as long as I can remember. It had a big vertical neon sign that said GOOD FOOD but the only tubes that weren't burnt out spelled out GOOF.
It was the go-to place for party survivors & cranky old farkers alike.
