And it holds back chemical agents.

Even OB can't do that.

Inflatable plugs that can block
A poisonous gas are a lock.
But since I'm sardonic,
I find it ironic
This "tampon" will STOP toxic shock.

FTFA: "The design draws inspiration from manufacturing techniques used by ILC Dover to make space suits and inflatable space habitats"

Praytell in what universe did they use these inflatable space habitats? I haven't seen any space colonies being established on any planets or moons in this dimension.

/c'mon NASA! where my flying cars and Moon cities, huh?
//this is no time to go on vaca

Let's say this tampon represents the normal amount of psychokinetic energy in the New York area. Based on this morning's sample, it would be a tampon thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately 600 pounds.

That's a big tampon.

Wonder how much time and money they spent developing a plug for a tunnel. Don't tunnels have *two* ends? That means two of these have to be successfully inflated on either side of the toxic release. Assuming said toxic release occurs in a tunnel. And the ventilation fans are turned off in time. And the ventilation ducts blocked as well.

Seems like an awful lot of work to protect against something that has only a very remote chance of happening.

Which tunnels will get the first ones? And how much does each one of these inflatable marvels cost?

Some company is going to get very, very rich.

I heart you. In a totally manly and platonic way, of course.

FAIL - they've completely neglected to address the logistical problems of handling and transporting the applicator...
