You know, when Russia appears to be more reasonable than the GOP, it might be time for the GOP to reevaluate their positions and rhetoric...

Proof of Obama-Stalin conspiracy. I'm sure they'll work in "Obama is a Commie!" somehow.

In bizarro-world, Obama is pushing missile defense and the GOP is slamming him for bringing up national defense issues in an election year in an attempt to sway voters.

Really? Russia is our #1 enemy?

Rmoney is more clueless than I thought.

One of the reasons I voted for Obama, is he said talks were not off the table for ANYONE. It is NOT good national security policy to plug your ears and say "nah nah nah I can't heeearrrr youuuuu...."

People like Romney don't even care about their own kids and grandkids. He'd rather play the obstructionist to the other political party than build a better world for his own children.

Wasn't there a time when we committed sociopaths?

Russia didn't even merit "axis of evil" status ten years ago. Today they're the #1 enemy? What about all the "bomb bomb bomb Iran" stuff? Does the GOP want to bomb a nation who is NOT the #1 enemy, preferring to bomb a lesser-enemy instead?

And what of North Korea?

It's almost like Romney hasn't really thought out this line of attack on the president. But that's obviously crazy, since Romney's campaign is run like a well oiled machine with no gaffes or missteps.

We really need the Soviet Union back. Without them the GOP has been forced to turn their bile inward. "Islamic Terrorism" is just too abstract a concept for them, and it's hard for them to explain why a $6 billion aircraft carrier is needed to fight a 15-year-old kid living in a cave with a $30 AK-47.

You have to remember that Romney, like all the other GOP candidates, is still attempting to court the Teahadists and other extremists that form the base of the current GOP. These are people attempting to live in a twisted version of the 1950s and are still scared sh*tless at the thought of communists and socialists, just like back then.

You're forgetting, for the GOP, everywhere that is NOT the midwestern or southern United States is Enemy #1.

From Romney's Hugh Hewitt interview yesterday...

HH: Now Governor Romney, the press will of course attempt to dismiss this as not a big issue. Will this remain a front line issue? And do you think that the President has got to spell out with great detail what he has in mind here?
MR: You know, I don't think he can recover from it, to tell you the truth. I mean, I think he will try and spin something. But I don't know how you spin from an open mic, where you're talking about having more flexibility after the election, which means quite clearly that you don't want the American people to hear what you're really planning on doing, and that you're going to be able to do more when you no longer are accountable to the American people. You know, the mainstream media may try and put this to bed, but we're going to keep it alive and awake. And we're going to keep hammering him with it all the way through November.

I think if there is one person who doesn't want the American people to hear what he's really planning on doing, it would be Romney. Typical Karl Rove tactic... take your biggest flaw and project it onto your opponent using shameless lies.

Wait, what? Mittens made a geo-political gaffe in the form of red scare rhetoric far past it's "best before" date, gets smacked down by the Russian Prez for his nonsense and his reaction here is... "I don't think he can recover from it, to tell you the truth,"

Not even lightly tethered to reality that guy.

Hey Mittens, in terms of making this planet a safer one to live on...

I'm finding this guy very, very troubling.

Not to be outdone, Rick Santorum vowed to start a war with Russia within the first 100 days of his presidency.

Newt Gingrich then promised to launch nuclear weapons in the first 50.

Though not covered by the press, RON PAUL gave a thoughtful, intelligent speech on the merits of avoiding war, but then concluded that Russia isn't in the Constitution, and therefore doesn't exist anyway.

When a Russian reveals how unenlightened you are it's funny. When we have more people in prison than Stalin's gulag did at it's peak, it's scary. Maybe Medvedev or Putin can come to the US and show the GOP how to leap a few decades into the future and join us in the 21st century.

It's a funny comment, but Medvedev might want to know that a foreigner advising the American electorate against making stupid choices winds up being perversely counterproductive. It's like taunting the dynamite monkey.

Remember how it played out back in '04 when a bunch of Brits wrote letters to Ohioans begging them not to re-elect Bush??

This. Given the rhetoric out of the GOP this year, they are making a push for a return to 1952.

For at least the last decade this is a universally true statement about the man.
