I would support a lease (say for 10 years), but not an outright sale.

This actually makes a ton of sense. Now if we could just put Rawlings-Blake in charge of the Orioles...

I lived in Little Italy for a couple of years before they tore down the high-rise projects at the end of the street. Great times, indeed. Lots of cool neighborhoods with amazing architecture.

I'm dating a girl who's originally from just outside of Baltimore, so I've been there as much in the past few months as I had in the rest of my life combined. Gotta say, it's growing on me.

Awesome, iconic piece of Baltimore history.

I'm going to buy it and turn it into a douchey college bar called "The Shots Tower" where the centerpiece will be big boobed girls at the top that pour shots into the mouths of waiting patrons some 200 feet below.

The same thing'll happen that always ends up happening in these cases. They'll sell it off for the quick cash, and then end up on the hook for maintenance in perpetuum while the new owner finds a way to profit from them.

A bad neighborhood in Baltimore? No way!

/lived 1 mile from the city limits for a couple of years
//liked the city overall, but yeah, some parts aren't safe.

lived near, worked in Baltimore for three years. It is farked up in so many fundamental ways that it's goign to take a miracle to bring that town back.

They can't even get the good parts and bad parts of town organized. It's block by block.

It's a really creepy place.

This. Maintain history, upkeep required, etc. I'm afraid though, probably will be privatized like a Russian oil company.

Talk about a historical landmark.

1. EW memory #1: hearing "Dream Weaver" played over the sound system at Mem. Stadium whenever he came out to pull a pitcher.

2. EW memory #2: the exhibition game the Orioles played in Japan. Everyone's name was written on the scorecard in Kanji. His translated phonetically to "Eru Uiba".

i was going to John's Hopkins hospital last year about 2 miles out on Rte. 40 at an intersection, two undercover police officers swarm the car in front of us. They're pulling out little thugs and taking guns off of them. The girl driving was high as sh*t.

I have pictures somewhere. My mom was crying and ducking, my brother was ducking and I was in the back seat taking pictures.

also, i was recently telling the story of a game i went to in 1996 which at the time, was the 2nd or 3rd longest 9 innning game in history, and I believe remains the only game in history to ever end in a full count, 2 out, bottom of the 9th grand slam. Chris Hoiles FTW.

Just checked. It is true. From wiki:

By early 1996, Hoiles' offensive production had diminished to the point to where the Orioles tried to drop him from the team by exposing him through waivers, but he managed a comeback.[13] On May 17, 1996, Hoiles joined the list of 23 major league players who have hit an ultimate grand slam when he hit a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning with the Baltimore Orioles down by three runs against the Seattle Mariners.[14] Hoiles' feat was made even more unique, as he hit his home run on a full count with 2 outs, the only time in major league history this has ever been recorded.[15][16]

I have the ticket still but i can't acess my host. will post later if i can remember.
