Worked int he oil field in the gulf for a bit after I got out of the military and first time I heard coon ass used it was between a white male and black male. Having gone to high school in South Carolina I expected a fight to break out. Come to find out they were arguing over who was the bigger coon ass as they considered it a badge of pride. Was explained to me that it was basically a Cajun redkneck and all races used it to describe themselves as such, more so for the folks that lived below I-90. Blew my mind at first but after awhile it became part of my vocabulary which always didn't work out the best for me after having left that part of our nation.

Do I believe it would apply here in this situation, not at all but to be honest I cant state that this is what Zimmerman said for a fact so its a moot point for me right now unless proved otherwise.
