All I really know about the movie is that it is based on a book, and might as well be called Gladiator except not Russel Crowe, or Gamer...except no Gerard Butler.

Yes, Cinna's skin is implied in the book. He's from District 11, whose members, according to the book, all have dark skin and dark hair. Collins herself says that District 11 is the Deep South and is mostly populated by African Americans.

So no, moron author, a white or Asian actor couldn't have played Cinna, Rue, or Thresh. If anything, yell at Collins for making District 11, the food & cotton district, (and the only one that riots in the movie) populated by African Americans. THEN you'd have a better argument.

/Not that I would agree with that argument but at least it doesn't sound as asinine as the one in TFA.

Glad to know that I'm not the only one who found all of the Hunger Games mania and fixation on the cast quite ironic in light of the book contents. Lets make a big media splash about a books series that heavily mocks those media splashes and is quite opposed to them.

Didn't some people complain the gate keeper in Thor was black? Those complaints were lame, too.

Unless the character is really supposed to be a specific race, like the Prince of Persia or Genghis Khan, I say just get the best actor. I would rather see James Earl Jones play just about everything, rather than some talentless hack.

I thought Cato was Asian so I was disappointed with their casting choice but not having seen the movie I couldn't say anything else about the rest.

Rue was exactly as I pictured her.

Haymitch I was picturing Mark Addy (the dude the played Robert Baratheon). Just someone chunkier for the part but I'm willing to bet Woody killed the part since he pretty much does with anything he plays.
