Why can't golfers and tennis players just ignore the crowd like athletes from every other sport?

While reffing a kids' hockey game, I was conducting a faceoff when a woman started yelling loudly and obnoxiously from the stands. The kids were bent over ready for the faceoff; one looks up: "Your mom?" The other kid dropped his head: "Yeah." I laughed and offered to eject her; he declined, and we got on with the game.

Great tennis traditions:

post-match handshake
wearing white at Wimbledon
asshole dads

As a father, even though I too wanna coach from the sidelines, I simply STFU. If things get too emotional, I calmly walk to the parking lot and talk with the other frustrated Dads till the game's over.

/Learned my lesson when snowflake was six when a loud soccer Mom tried to trip me.

Stupid rule. Tennis players should be allowed to have a coach on the sidelines like every other sport.

the women's tour does - it's a relatively recent development and generally considered ridiculous (including by the women's #1 player). one of the tenets of the sport of tennis is that it's supposed to be about self-sufficiency during actual matches. other sports have coaches on the sidelines because there are entire teams involved.
